Bish, bash, bosh!

Interesting shave for me tonight. I tried a bit of a hybrid; a Boots DE razor head on a Muhle R41 handle, which I bought from Daz on this site. Cheers.

I used Truefitt and Hill soap, a Traditional Shaving Company best badger brush and finished off with Witch Hazel and Boots Freshwood balm.

The hybrid gives a very close shave using the unbranded blades that came with the Boots razor. It is not very smooth though, and I think that is due to the head's finish. The blades work well in higher quality razors. The weight of the R41 handle is an improvement over the plastic handle on the Boots razor.

One to keep in my travel bag I think...

Now I have few soaps in my rotation. And some I use more than others. Some I forget about. Not on purpose of course. I would never leave one out intentionally. They all come back with a surprise attached as I have usually forgotten some aspect of fragrance or feel.

I have always rated this product but today it simply shone as a beacon of lovely smelling, cushioning joyfulness.

And the winner is......(pauses opens gold envelope.....)

Body Shop Macca (everyones favourite Beatle) Root

Finished with Lush Prince cream I have had the most satisfying of shaves. Close, smooth, irritation free.

Keep calm. Keep shaving.

Wednesday 5th September 2012
Prep: Shower
Razor: GEM Junior fat handle
Blade: Modern Stainless GEM Coated
Brush: Shaving Factory Horse Med.
Soap: Erasmic Supreme Sitck & Erasmic Cream + Glycerine
Aftershave: Real Shaving Company Balm

Another attempt at making Uberlather and this time I seem to have got it right. I mixed it all up in my cappuccino cup and then added a half dozen drops of Glycerine, the only problem was after three passes there was still enough remaining to shave a football team! Lovely slippery lather that seemed to work really well.

Regards
Dick.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage rebranded Simpsons best
UK #58/Schick Plus Platinum (NOS)
Surrey SS (pre VDH reformulation)
RL Safari AS balm
RL 'Safari' EDT (old juice)

First time using this new to me razor that I received in a trade deal. Got out my control soap/blade and away I went.

Luckily, the #58 reminds me of a Diplomat/President/Aristocrat kinda razor. Those are some of my favorite fixed head types. This one has a little more bite to it, which is fine. Just means I need to go a little slower on a few tricky spots....no problem at all.

Found a new player in my rotation......very nice! Really a purty little thang.

BBS results,

Martin
