SOTD Sat 1st Sept to Frid 7th Sept 2012

Greetings

Thursday 6th September 2012
Prep: Shower
Razor: Ever Ready Streamline
Blade: Modern GEM Stainless Coated
Brush: Vie Long 13061M Horse
Soap: Tweex squeezed into a container
Aftershave: Wilkinson Sword Sensitive Balm

Great shave, I think the Tweex is, by a very short margin my favourite of the Turkish shave sticks.
Regards
Dick.

Morning all,

Hot shower prep
Proraso Pre/Post white
TOBS Sandalwood
DE89 with Feather blade
vulfix 404
Cold rinse
Floid Genuine A/S
Floris Santal Edt

On leave this week so a nice leisurely shave this morning, very close as expected with the feather.[/code]

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage rebranded Simpsons best
UK #58/Schick Plus Platinum (NOS)
RL Safari SS ( NOS)
RL Safari AS balm
RL 'Safari' EdT (old juice)

Second shave with this new to me razor. It's a little too early to tell, but I have a feeling this #58 is gonna be even more fun to use than my Aristo or Diplomat. Nice and comfortable.

First time trying this old soap and it's a good one! Very easy to lather, with plenty of slip and the right amount of cushion. The scent is subtle.....smells like the EdT, which is a good thing. Turned out to be a very fun blind buy.

All in all, quite a nice shave this morning.

BBS results,

Martin

Bulldog for men facewash.
Simpsons shaving cream.
TOBS super badger shaving brush.
Muhle R89 with Personna red #3.
Nivea ASB.
Cerruti 1881 EDT.

Not too bad a shave, still trying to get the right slickness of lather with the Simpsons cream, more water required I think.

Thursday:

Gillette New
Gillette Platinum (8)
Omega boar brush
Tabac stick
Tabac AS balm

Switched this morning to the New after some time with adjustables; one has to accept that this simple yet classic Gillette is a superb shaving implement. Liking the Tabac balm too, having used it sparingly in the past.

RE: SOTD Sat 1st Sept to Frid 7th Sept 2012

Last night :

Feather AS-D1
Feather Hi Stainless Blade
Mitchell's Wool Fat soap
Muhle Synthetic 31 M 317 brush
Woodhead thrown bowl

Had about 6 days growth so it was a struggle for the feather AS-D1 on the first pass but second pass was much better, felt like nothing much was happening but beard just disappeared, after trying a Merkur 39C Slant bar the shave before it was angelic shave. Didn't need a heavy dose of Alum after
Really impressed with the Feather AS-D1

Paul :)

[undefined=undefined]Prep: Hot shower
Brush: M&F w blond two band badger
Razor: TI, special edition for a French forum
Superlather: Floris no: 89 + Irish Moss
AS: Old Spice Fresh Lime
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Very, very clean :D

I loved this superlather, the scent was "special", but in a good way (for me, I can easy imagine that someone else would think it to be a stinker :)).

This morning:

Prep: Face wash, Imperial Leather bath soap, cold

Razor: Kropp 6/8", black horn scales, restored by UKRob
Soap: Cella
Aftershave: Prof Blighty's Rosewood

As good as I expect from this razor - that is, very.

Thursday 6th September

Hot shower and Facial scrub
Vitos Pre/Post Shave
Muhle R41/Gillette Bleue Extra
New Forest Tubby 1 2 Band
Vulfix Persian Musk Shave Cream
Alum Block
Organic Shea Butter
Rosewater

A truly excellent shave.

Shocker today! :icon_eek:

Usual shower prep followed by:

EJ DE89L
Vintage English Wilkinson Sword blade
Vulfix 404 Badger & Boar
Ingrams Shaving Cream
James Bronnley Original AS
Alum
Witch Hazel
Astral Cream
Vaseline

Face felt a bit tender as soon as I started lathering with the Ingrams and the brush felt scritchier than usual. Just couldn't seem to get close enough and ended up doing way too many touch ups after the usual three passes. Result: a big red, blotchly sore face and neck. No nicks but it got sore enough I had to go take some Ibuprofen pain killers!

Got me more than a bit down I have to say. Ruddy well going backwards here!

Oh well. :icon_sad:
