SOTD Sat 16th Feb - Fri 22th Feb 2013...

Shaves 24 hours apart but posts separated by rather less...

This morning:

Prep: Cold rinse
Razor: Le Grelot 5/8", in UKRob rosewood scales
Brush: Simpson Commodore X3 in Best
Soap: Prof Blighty's Rosewood
Aftershave: Prof Blighty's Rosewood
Scent: Trumper's Sandalwood

Splendid.

Tuesday:

La Toja cream
Semogue 2012 SE
40s Superspeed
Feather
Witch Hazel
Barbershop Bay Rum

I haven't used the Superspeed for ages, it must be about a year. On a whim I pulled it out this morning and loaded it with a Feather. It delivered a wonderful shave. It took a bit more work to clear some of the tough spots but got there in the end. Lovely job! Steve's Bay Rum finished it off well.

Monday evening:

Prep: Hot shower, body and face scrub
Pre: T&H Shaving Oil
Razor: Muhle 89R
Blade: Personna Platinum
Brush: T&H Super Badger
Cream: T&H No10
Post: T&H No10 Aftershave balm

Very, very smooth (the shave wasn't bad either).

Gillette Tech
Perma-Sharp Super (2)
Muhle Silvertip Fibre
Cella, face lathered
Simple Rich moisturiser
Penhaligon's English Fern

I've ordered 100 Perma-Sharp Supers (Russian, gold cardboard pack) off the back of these 2 shaves. Straight into my Top 10. It's bloody sharp and fairly smooth - not unlike a Gillette 7 o'clock SharpEdge (Yellow) - which is probably why it's struck up an understanding with my Tech.

Greetings

Tuesday 19th February 2013
Prep: Shower
Razor: Schick Injector G8
Blade: Personna Stainless Coated
Brush: Semogue 830 Boar
Soap: Cella
Aftershave: La Toja Balm

Back to the G8 today and I now think that I am fairly happy that the G type (at least for me) is a slightly better shaver and nicer razor to use than the I and J types; but only by the smallest margin. I have no issues with the shave produced by any of these three.

The E type on the other hand is much more aggressive, but it does not really produce a better shave and is a little 'fierce' on my neck area, your views, as always may differ from mine.

Regards
Dick.

Tuesday

Cracked open my travel kit today which gets little use these days...

EJ travel badger
Castle Forbes Lavender
Filly DT 13, black scales
Dermalogica Post Shave Balm (sample)
Creed Millesime Imperial

...smooth as ever, but this balm needs more wearings before I can make my mind up about it.

Monday night 18th

Prep : Clinique face soap
Razor : Fatip Grande
Blade : Feather (1)
Soap : Proraso green tub
Brush : Omega No.37
Splash : Proraso AS

First time using a Feather in the Fatip and what a wonderful combo, really easy shave and after a couple of months with the N0.37 I finally got a good 3 pass lather out of it.

Have to say the combo last night was a truly exceptional and comfortable shave and about the first time I've really enjoyed using a Feather.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage rebranded Simpsons best
'Webly'/Perma-Sharp (NOS thanks NTS)
Surrey SS (pre VDH reformulation)
Boots AS Balm
Givenchy 'Xeryus' EdT

Nice old UK made blade paired up well with the razor. The Surrey is one of the slicker soaps I've tried, and even though the fragrance is almost gone it's a favorite of mine.

BBS results,

Martin

Proraso pre
Omega 37 Boar
WM Neumann Bay Rum soap
Merkur 37c HD slant
Astra SP (2)
Thayer's Superhazel
L'Occitane Cade AS balm
L'Occitane Baux EDT

The fragrance of this bay rum soap seems just wonderful but may not suit everyone. The omega is starting to really perform nicely. An enjoyable face lather today. The slant is just amazing. So efficient.
