Thursday 17th January

Hot Shower and Facial Scrub
Vitos Pre/Post Cream
GD #66 6/8 Razor
Semogue 830 Brush
Proraso Original Green Soap
Alum Block
Osage Rub mixed with 444 ASB
Morgans Classic Pomade
Brian's Own (Moustache Wax)
EDT to be decided before work tonight.

I had to fight with myself when a new (to me) japanese Straight arrived in the post this morning. That will be something to look forward to tomorrow after my night duty this evening. Snow has arrived in Wales ....but I had a Proraso shave today. An excellent close and comfortable 3 pass shave.

This morning:

Prep: Face wash, cold
Razor: Taylor Eye Witness, 5/8", in (imitation) ivory
Brush: Neep #1033 soapstone ball and bobbin 24mm high mountain badger
Cream: Truefitt and Hill #10
Aftershave: Prof Blighty's Green Ginger

Managed to misjudge the stairs in the dark yesterday. Elbow feels troublesome. Dickhead.

Thursday 17 January

Back home this morning

Prep: Hot shower with Dove MenCare Sensitive Face Wash
Pre: Hot water
Brush: Semogue 1305
Soap: Dr Dittmer Spezial, applied as per shave stick
Razor: Merkur 38C Barber Pole
Blade: Polsilver Super Iridium # 1
Post: Cold Water, Alum, Proraso White Pre, Insitut Karité ASB

Result: Quick and dirty two pass shave this morning, but feels pretty good. The Dittmar certainly leaves my cheeks and chin very soft. I'm in a hard water area, so applying it directly to my beard as per a soap stick seems to work very well for me.

Afternoon, gents.

Thursday:

Prep: Claus Porto Lime-oil face soap
Razor: EJ DE89 head with an iKon Bulldog handle
Blade: Derby (6)
Brush: Vulfix Grosvenor
Shave cream: Penhaligon's Endymion
A/S: I Coloniali Ebano Ebano

Good shave and an excellent cold-weather scent supplied by the aftershave even now - warm and rich.

Thursday

Relaxing shave today as I didn't need to be in work until Lunchtime. I decided to try Bowl lathering again, something I haven't done for a long while as I started palm lathering , which I preferred, then went to face lathering which is what I usually do now.

Anyway, I dug the Steve Woodhead mug out of the back of the cupboard and decided to lather up with Cella.

I got such an anormous amount of luxorious lather I even surprised myself.

Prep: Hot Shower
Brush: Neep 28mm Extra Silvertip in Kenya Soapstone
Soap: Cella
Razor: 7 o'clock New with UFO2 handle
Blade: Gillette SuperThin (thai)
Balm: Barbershop Bay Rum
Cologne: Penhaligons Endymion

An excellent shave this morning, nice to be able to really take my time and indulge. A nice BBS finish, just one slight disaster as I caught a mole on the side of my neck, luckily it was only a little nick and stopped bleeding in about 2 minutes.

Merkur 37C Slant Bar
Feather Blade
Tabac Shaving soap
Kent BK8 Brush

WOW The Tabac has revealed Itself to be a nice soap:icon_biggrin:

The slant bar Shaved closer than ever with the tabac bit more practice with it how ever as I got a nice weeper.

Nice Shave, and to finish.... Coffee, yum yum.

Thurs 17th

Hot shower
Hot flannel
Trumpers coconut hard soap scuttle lathered
Kent BK8 brush
Ikon OSS stainless razor
Rapira SS (2)
Cold rinse
Nivea post shave balm

The Trumpers soap made plenty of rich lather. I managed to get close shave using the open comb and finished with a final pass with the solid bar plus some touch ups round my chin and under. Little tender here the Nivea calmed it down. Going to try the Ikon deluxe open comb with a new different blade tomorrow.

Good evening, all.

Prep: Nivea Sensitive Face Wash, Hot Flannel
Cream: T&H 1805
Brush: Simpson Duke 3 Best
Razor: Weber POL/Bulldog
Blade: Polsilver Super Iridium (2)
Post: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel, Weleda After Shave Balm
EDT: Penhaligon's Castile (sample)

It's a great shave when razor, blade, lather and technique all come together :) Now let's see if I can repeat it consistently...

Weber Polished
Personna Lab Blue (5)
Kent BLK8 silvertip
Taylor's Jermyn St cream
Proraso Aftershave balm
Dior Homme edt

The Jermyn Street cream was pathetic. Perhaps I was stingy with the cream in the first place, but I had to reload after the first pass and - even then - the lather was so pitiful I dolloped a bit of Speick (a known performer) on top. Voluminous, bountiful lather was the result. The blade's been retired and finished on a high: the closest and smoothest shave of the week and I could've easily stretched it to 7+ shaves, I'm sure.

This morning's raspings:

Gillette fat-handled English Tech
Rapira Swede with a double shim
Simpson's Colonel X2L
Ingram's cream
Blighty's English Pear ASB

This Tech is the lighter headed later model which I'm not as keen on but nonetheless it gave an excellent shave once opened up with the double shim and sharp, smooth, thoroughly excellent Rapira Swede blade. A wee bit more work required than if I'd used the Jagger 89L but a nice wee change all the same. May have to see if I can find the heavier headed model and slip it under the 'radar'. I hadn't been getting on all that great with the Simpson's brush to be honest but it all came together today - wonderful rich lather and so very soft on the coupon. Honestly Simpson's Best must be as good or better than many others' Silvertip! The Ingram's was wonderfully refreshing and protective as always and the Prof's English Pear finished things off nicely. Super smooth chops!

Prep: Cold Water Splash
Razor: Fatip / Weber Bulldog
Blade: Ladas Super Stainless (1)
Brush: Simpson Duke 2 Best
Soap: VITOS Super Extra Coconut
Post: Proraso Menthol Post Cream
AS: Speick Splash

A very nice 2 pass cold water face lather shave.

The blade works great with the Fatip, first time i've used that one.
