Back in the room.........

This morning:

Prep: Face wash, Imperial Leather bath soap, cold
Razor: Kropp 6/8", ivorine scales, restored by Jamie
Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 in best
Soap: Taylor's sandalwood stick
Aftershave: Prof Blighty's Rosewood

Rubbish lather and a great razor almost canceled each other out. Should have started afresh with the soap. Never mind. End result perfectly decent.

Shaved in the shower today:

Founders Reserve Pre-Shave Oil
My mixer pot of old creams / soaps
Traditional Shaving Company Best Badger Brush
R89
Shark Blade
Face lathered
TOBS Shaving Shop Aftershave and Cologne

A very nice, and more importantly, very comfortable finish. The first truly comfortable shave since I had a "professional" shave a few days ago (see separate thread).

Think my face and neck are nearly back to normal now, ready for the pass-around Slant this weekend!

Thursday 25th October

Hot shower and Facial Scrub
Proraso Sensitive Pre/Post Cream
Muhle R41 with a Gillette Bleue Extra
New Forest 2222 HMB
Klar Kabinett
Home produced Toner (based on cider vinegar)
Rose Water
Organic Shea Butter
Morgans Classic Pomade
Oudh Code pour Homme

3 pass BBS with no side effects!

Boots Freshwood shaving soap
Stahly head (loaned courtesy of Dodgy) with 7 o'clock handle and English Wilkinson Sword
M and S Autograph a/s balm

Great head! ;-D
The Stahly head has a nice bit of weight to it and on this fairly light, short, thin handle provides a lot of feedback. There's a touch of aggression there but it seems very forgiving about angle and pressure. If you get either wrong you can easily correct. I likey!

Skin is still a bit sore and red from the No. 58 (presumably) but getting better. May have to not shave over the weekend to allow it to properly recover.

Prep: Nivea Face Wash
Razor: Weber Bulldog DLC
Blade: Gillette 7 O'Clock Black #3
Brush: Simpson Duke 2 Best
Soap: MWF
After: Proraso Post Cream
AfterAfter: Witch Hazel Gel

Lovely Shave, All my current favourite items

Normally blades start giving me a bit of irritation after 2 shaves, but the Black cut through 4 days of growth with no irritation on it's 3rd shave. I think i might even go for a fourth with this blade. Really like the 7 O'Clock Black.

Steve vs. Pass Around R41 - Round 1.

So today was the day, with a bit more time than usual before work as I have to wait for the Post Office to open before I go, the R41 came into the bathroom.

I had nearly as much apprehension about using this as when I first tried a straight.

So, keeping as much normal as possible I went for my normal routine

Prep: Hot Shower
Cream: TOBS Eton College
Brush: Neep 26mm Extra Silvertip in Kingfisher Burl
Razor: Muhle R41
Blade: Gillette 7 o'clock SharpEdge
A/S: TOBS Eton College

"It's sharp this" was my first thought as I started the firts pass, and sharp it was. With a bit of trepidation I managed to complete the first pass with only one tiny nick on my chin. It was obvious when applying more hot water to my face ready for the next pass that this razor was doing a very good job.
The next pass went without too much trauma, but my face felt as though it had been through enough so the usual final ATG pass was abandoned.

A quick rinse off and I had an extremely close shave, with only a tiny nick on my chin. A quick splash with the A/S proved maybe there were a few more tiny nicks than I was aware of, but there was no damage requireing the use of Alum to repair.

1 - 0 to Steve this morning.

Friday:

Professor Blighty's Harlequin Soap
Semogue SOC Boar
#15 Aristocrat
Gillette 7 o'clock SharpEdge (1)
DR Harris Windsor AS
LEA AS Balm
DR Harris Windsor EdT

Very nice shave. Just got this razor back from being re-plated, so had to shave with it this morning. Prof Blighty's soap produced a fantastic lather as always. BBS results.

Greetings
