Shave of the day. W/C Saturday 9th April 2011

Sunday. Lazy afternoon shave. I had decided to move my wall-mounted extendible mirror slightly higher to give a better angle, it has definitely helped with visibility.

Gillette Superthin (1) received in a recent pif - wonderful blade this!
GFT Sandalwood cream sampler.
Vulfix 404 badger/boar mix. Now really working like a dream.

Prepped with a hot shower, post shave just a swipe with alum, several cold rinses then some Lynx Africa AS splash.
A decent result, I wasn't aiming for BBS but got near enough, I'd say it was GEFM (Good Enough For Me!) with so little effort- this has been the smoothest blade I have yet tried (out of the small selection I have used so far) and seems to have caused no damage so far.
Funny thing is, I found the sandalwood cream has a similar hint of ashtray to the Eucris - yet the GFT sandalwood cologne is quite different to my nose, very pleasant indeed.

All things considered, a very satisfactory shave. Long may this continue! :shave

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage Marshall Fields badger
Schick M type adjustable injector/Personna Super Stainless (NOS blade)
Surrey SS (pre VDH reformulation
Lucky Tiger AS and Face Tonic
Annick Goutal 'Eau d' Hadrien' EdT

Yet another vintage blade tried for the first time this morning in my go to injector. Whew.......very smooth and sharp. Definitely on the forgiving side, considering how well these wipe them whiskers away.

There's nothing like an injector for cleaning up my neck, plus they're great for seeing the exact spot you need to shave. Very handy with my recent mustache sprouting (maybe it was just dormant till the nice weather arrived).

BBS results,

Martin

Sunday PM

Musgo Real Glyce lime oil soap
Warm flannel (too warm here to go very hot!)
Merkur HD
Crystal Platinum (2)
TOBS synthetic
Real Shave Co. Professional moisturising cream, face-lathered
Boots witch hazel
Nivea Sensitve ASB

3 passes: WTG, XTG, XTG.

Result: DFS.

I used this shave as an opportunity to fathom -ou my problems with discomfort using the Merkur. Concentrating on keeping a shallow angle helped. For some reason, when I use my Slim, it automatically drops to the correct blade angle; yet, when I use the Markur I tend to go too steep. This shave was a good, comfy, close shave which shows me that I do like the Merkur after all.
