Shave of the day W/C 12/11/2011

SUNDAY EVENING

2 minute hot face cloth
Gillette Thin Handle Tech
Nacet (4 and final)
Vulfix 404
Nannys Yushu
GFT lime skin food

My first ever go with an old Tech (I've used a 70's one that I didn't really enjoy).

I can see the positives and negatives of this razor. Absolutely fuss free shave with no irritation is the big plus.

The only real negative is I prefer a razor with more 'bite'. I had to have 4 passes on my neck to get as close as I'd get with, for example, an Aristocrat.

However, I shall use it throughout this week and see how I feel at the end.

Sunday

Sprock 6/8 - Culmak - NF2213 - Alum - Witch Hazel

Excellent shave, a fitting end to a great day.

Sunday evening.

Hot shower, RSC facial scrub prep - left skin feeling slightly oily despite rinsing so had to use more soap to wash residue off.

EJ89 Barley, nameless blade (3 and still smooth)
Vulfix 404 Bodger
Nanny's French Lavender

Two passes, no touchups required

Alum
Bulldog sensitive ASB

Happy happy face!

Gillette Aluminium Tech.
Polsilver blade
TOBS almond cream
Post-shave Proraso

This is the seventh shave from the Polsilver blade. Not as smooth as it once was but not draggy. Did notice on the second shave it dulling so finished off with the Old and a 365 blade. It was a good shave and impressed the Polsilver lasted this long.

Monday

Edwin Jagger DE89
Shark Super Chrome Blade
New Forest 2201 Brush
D.R. Harris Lavender Shaving Soap
Clinique Post Shave Soother

DE89+Shark SC = win!

This morning, with a day and a half on the face:

Bulldog face wash
Feather Artist Club RG, ProGuard blade (7)
Taylor's Sandalwood stick
Neep custom yew badger
Trumper's sandalwood skin food
Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet cologne

Slightly "draggy" on the second pass, and a tiny nick in the usual place, but possibly the closest shave with this device yet - near as dammit bbs. I sometimes think a slightly drier lather may actually help. Very comfortable, too :).

Prep: Hot shower
Brush: Le Tuft - horn, Abalone and 22 mm super Simpson
Razor: C V Heljestrand 9 ½
Soap: MdC
AS: Ogallala, Limes and Pepercorns
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Uberclean :D

Today I got the shave I wanted yesterday :D

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage butterscotch Ever Ready badger
1958 Executive/Gillette Stainless Steel (1965)
Surrey SS (pre VDH reformulation)
Barbershop Bay Rum AS
St Johns Bay Rum cologne

Yet another new to me blade tried this morning....this one's 46 years old. Very nice shave...smooth and comfortable. Not quite as sharp as the Iridium, but pretty darn close and very forgiving. This is another blade I could use every day without a problem.

BBS results,

Martin

Hot Towel Prep
Merkur 38B
Feather Blade (1)
TOBS Eton College Cream
Kent BK4 Brush
Floid Blue A/S

Why oh why did I wait so long to break out the Feathers? They are absolutely superb. Took away 2 and a half day's of growth with minimal fuss. What a match made in heaven (38B+Feather)

2 passes and touch ups, incredibly smooth, no irritation, no nicks - I am so happy with today's shave.

I think I forgot to post yesterday...

Simpson Duke
DR Harris Arlington cream
'60 Fatboy
Astra SP

Today:

Simpson Colonel LE
DR Harris Arlington cream
'60 Fatboy
Astra SP

Feather SS with Kai Titan Mild
Speick stick
Frank Shaving 'Lindisfarne' ivory colour
L'Occitane balm (sample)

Ok, it'll take me a while but I'll get there with this iPad. Making some words in bold seems an impossible task for today. On the shave front, one pass this am, no problems.
