Hot shower
Hot flannel
Irisch moos cream scuttle lathered
Simpsons Emperor 1 super badger brush
Merkur Progress long handle set at 2,5
Personna Platinum chrome (1)
Cold rinse
Witch hazel
Irisch moos aftershave balsam

Close and comfortable shave. Enjoying the Irisch moos scent lovely :icon_biggrin:

Brian

Hot flannel
Proraso pre, white
NF Tubby 1 brush, Nanny's soft soap - tea tree and aloe vera
Weber polished, Gillette Superthin improved (1)
Cold splash, alum block
Clinique post-shave healer

I've found other Gillette blades (7 O'clock yellows and greens) a bit nicky. The Superthins are also a bit nicky... which is a shame as in all other respects I really like them. Had to styptic twice and sweep away the smaller nicks/weepers with some deft alum'ing. What I'm left with now is lovely and smooth and pretty much irritation free. I'll give them another try tomorrow.

Wednesday evening.

Prep: Nivea Sensitive Face Wash, Cold Water
Soap: Nanny's Bergamot & Coriander Soft Soap
Brush: Neep 28mm Extra Silvertip
Razor: Polished Weber/Bulldog Handle
Blade: Voskhod (4 and out)
Post: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel, Weleda After Shave Balm
EdT: Lalique Hommage a l'Homme

Close, comfortable shave :)

Merkur 37c slant
Feather (3)
Kent BLK8 silvertip
Speick cream
Witch hazel
Proraso AS lotion

Not particularly comfortable; lots of burn from the aftershave. I'll get another shave out of the Feather - just about - but I'll try the slant with one or two more blades before I pass judgement. At the moment, I'm thinking that it shaves close, yes, but it takes its toll on my face. I likely need to adjust my usual angle of attack too. Any tips?

The slant bars redefine the term light touch,no pressure needed at all + a nice protective lather (I like MWF with the slant)

Prep: Shower then cold rinse
Razor: Ball end Old
Brush: Silvertip from Shaving.ie
Blade: Astra SP
Soap: Village Barber shaving oil and Palmolive/Erasmic mix + the last of my Real Shaving Co. Shaving cream.
A/S: Krampert's Finest Bay Rum
Result: 3 pass shave, but this time the third pass seemed redundant - was smooth after two. In this razor the Astra doesn't show any signs of giving up yet!

After 2 recent shaves with the mild Merkur 33c while away from home, I needed something with much more bite. Enter the Gillette old, circa 1908-21, OC 3 piece (my first use).

Proraso pre
Omega 37 and Speick shave stick
Gillette old w Astra SS (1)
Thayer's Peach
Acqua Di Parma ASB

What a marvellous razor. This baby may be 100 yo. Great blade exposure. Angle was easy to get right. 2 passes and I was pretty done. Some minor touch ups for a super smooth result.

Prep Pre Shave
Irish Moos Shave Cream
Semogue 1520
Fat Handle Tech
7oclock Yellow
Liz Earle ASB

First class shave all worked very well together. The Irish is very slick and
Worth a try if your looking for a new cream.

This morning:

Prep: Cold rinse
Razor: William Rodgers "The Favorite", restored by Jamie
Brush: Neep #1059 soapstone chubby 26mm super silvertip
Soap: Trumper's West Indian Limes
Aftershave: Prof Blighty's Green Ginger
Scent: Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet

The lather completely evanesced after the first pass, very unusually, sop the rest of the shave was with transparent near-water slip from the brush.

This is the first time I used this razor since Jamie so kindly resharpened it, and it shaved exceptionally well :). It is to me an avatar of this forum's kindness and community, and I would treasure it even if not good - but so much better that it is :).

Let me publicly thank Jamie again, who has now restored, sharpened, gifted, and resharpened this razor and taken nothing in return.
