S.O.T.D Saturday 2nd March to Friday 8th March 2013

Monday 4th March

Hot Shower and Facial Scrub
Shavex cream
Ford & Medley Arrow 6/8 Razor
Semogue 830 Brush
Vitos Green Soap
Tea Tree and Peppermint Toner
Organic Shea Butter
Lilac Vegetal AS
Morgans Classic Cream
Brian's Own Moustache Wax

30 on Felt, 40 on Latigo and 40 on English Bridle. Had a superb 3 pass shave!

Gillette Tech
Feather (1)
SOC 2-band
Proraso green tub
Witch hazel
Proraso AS lotion

I rarely use Feathers. This shave reminded me why. No weepers or anything, but a careful ATG pass elicited too much soreness for the eventual BBS to be worthwhile. Hopefully I'll have taken the edge off it and it'll fare better in the slant tomorrow.

Handsome, shiny, yoghurt-like lather - but I wonder whether there was sufficient 'cushion'. Hmm.

That is a work of straight razor art you've got Mikael

Cheers John! Well, it's actually Max that should have credit, he sure made a sweet blade!

Ah, and I think I was conflating with that one when I talked about the curvy beast Rob made too. I have no aggressively pointed straights, and tbh that doesn't trouble me :).

This morning:

Prep: Cold rinse
Razor: Thiers-Issard "basic black", 11/16"
Brush: Simpson Tulip T2 in two-band Super
Soap: D R Harris Arlington
Aftershave: Prof Blighty's Yellow Ginger

I have been thoroughly virally colonised. I think my epitaph will read "here lies Dr Rick, an obligingly ambulant Petri dish."

Evening, everybody.

Monday:

Prep: Claus Porto Lime-oil face soap
Razor: Yuma
Blade: Shark SS (3)
Brush: Bestshave No. 6
Shave cream: St James of London, Cedar and Clarysage
A/S: Ditto

MONDAY EVENING

Gillette Slim Twist
Rapira Swede (1)
Neep Coral Sandstone brush
De Vergulde Hand stick - face lathered
Witch hazel
IK AS balm

Third go with this soap and it just does not work with me.

Compared to the lather I got from the Arko yesterday it is very disappointing. Much less slip and cushion despite getting plenty of lather.

I think I might be slightly allergic to something in it too.

Do we PIF soap sticks?

Kropp 5/8"
New Forest Tubby 1 finest silver tip in Tigris Perla
Taylors of Bond Street Sandalwood Shaving Cream
Witch Hazel

…and so to bed

Tuesday 4 March

Prep: Hot shower, Nivea Q10 Facial Wash
Pre: Cold Water and Proraso White
Brush: Grosvenor 404 Mixed
Soap: Viking
Razor: US Gem Single Edge (1912 I think)
Post: Sal Alum, Thayers Withch Hazel ASL, Somerset's ASB
Fragrance: L'Occitane Verdon Splash

A whole different world this morning - Single Edge shaving. Wow, what a blade that Gem is. Need to adjust technique a little I think, there was some claret split, but nothing the alum couldn't cope with.

Have a good day, gents.

Jon

Tuesday 5th March 2013
Prep: Shower
Razor: Valet Autostrop (British)
Blade: Feather SE
Brush: Vulfix 406 Boar
Soap: Erasmic
Aftershave: Simple Balm

Superb shave, a different Valet razor this morning, this model is quite gentle to shave with; I shall try the Feather blade for a third shave tomorrow but I fear that in reality it is finished!

Regards
Dick.

[align=center]Prep: hot shower
Brush: Le Tuft with Simpson knot
Razor: Max Sprecher
Soap: Castle Forbes Lime
AS: Old Spice Musk
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Very, very clean :D

Fantastic razor, that Max made with a lovely ½ hollow grind, but my right ear lob wasn't quick enough to fold and got a small nick from this slightly pointy point, nothing serious though, all in all a very nice and good shave! :D

Greetings
That razor looks bloody terrifying! I'm scared just looking at it!
