Prep: Shower
Scuttle: Schwarzweisskeramik basic
Brush: Simpson Chubby 1 Best Badger

Razor: JA Hellberg 6/8" clip-on Frameback
Aftershave: TOBS Victorian No.74 Lime

SOTD12_zpsa9613436.jpg

Notes: It's the first Frameback I ever bought and initially I wasn't quite sure about this as handling was not what I was used to, with the razor being just a thin blade with a couple of strips of metal attached along the spine. It felt quite flimsy and the handle felt heavier than the blade itself.

However, it didn't take me very long to get used to it and the geometry and steel means it can be made very keen and the result was a good smooth and close shave. I shall have to check the edge later to see how it held up.

Vetyver along with Patchouli is probably another scent that perhaps isn't quite my style. Performance was good though, so I'll be trying another sample next.

Pre hot towel + LEA lanolized stick + Frank Shaving Finest + Gillette Contour with Feather #1 + La Toja "Manantiales" splash and balm

First shave with this Soltech Feather cartridges! A bit creepy seeing how much blade blade it exposed:

But the shave was well anyway, very curious sensation similar to three or more blades cartridges!

Cheers!

Shower
Trumpers lime skin food preshave
Arko Ice Mint cream
Rudy Vey custom 2 band brush
Custom UFO razor handle (Thank you Sir eider)
Murkur head
Rapira blade (Thanks to "notthestig)
Sunburyboy's Bay Rum

Three pass, wtg, xtg and atg BBS without irritation.

First time with Rapira, felt very smooth on first pass (so much so that the hair in the sink was the only clue I had the angle correct)

2nd and 3rd pass also very comfortable and effective. Slightly more sting than usual with Bay Rum, but did not last long and face left glowing........

Monday 3 March

Prep: Hot shower, Dove MenCare Sensitive Facial Wash
Pre: Cold Water and Proraso White
Brush: Omega 13064 Boar
Soap: Dr Dittmar Speziale
Razor #1: Kai Captain Excelia Japanese style
Razor #2: Ikon 2PB, open comb side with Polsilver
Post: Nivea After Shave Balm
Fragrance: Acqua di Colonia Collezione Barbiere

Results: A curate's egg of a shave this morning. Not sure that the good Doctor Dittmar copes well with a cold water experience. Couldn't get any lasting lather and had to use a few drops of Somerset's Oil prior to the final pass. This messed with my post save routine thought - no alum or witch hazel, straight to ASB. Well all said and done, though, no irritation and felt very smooth. Razor head was in a bit of an oily mess though, and had to dispose of the blade, such was the residue.

Next four shaves will be in a hotel, so fingers crossed for a well lit bathroom.

All the best, gents...

Jon

Prep: hot shower
Brush: Le Tuft with Simpson knot
Razor: Max Sprecher
Soap: Castle Forbes Lime
AS: Old Spice Musk
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Very, very clean :D

Fantastic razor, that Max made with a lovely ½ hollow grind, but my right ear lob wasn't quick enough to fold and got a small nick from this slightly pointy point, nothing serious though, all in all a very nice and good shave! :D
