How do you find this brush, Rick? I love the Colonel so far but did consider this fellow when I bought the Colonel. Got a birthday in April too....;)

Prep: Shower
Razor: Valet Autostrop
Blade: GEM Stainless Coated de-spined and modified

A lovely close shave but this model of Autostrop is very aggressive.

Regards
Dick.

Monday evening

Hot towel
Proraso pre
Muhle R41
Astra SS (2)
TOBS Mr Taylor's SC
Duke 2 Best
Thayer's Superhazel
DR Harris Bay Rum AS
L'Occitane Cade AS Balm

Second go with the Muhle R41. Went for 3 passes this time. Boy does it bite.
Concentrated closely throughout on the blade angle and did well with applying no pressure but ended up with a decent nick at the edge of my upper lip. Easily fixed with the styptic.

SWMBO - not a fan of the Bay Rum, so I overlaid it with the Cade Balm.

Smoothest BBS I've ever had.

Hot flannel
DR Harris Arlington cream scuttle lathered
Simpsons Emperor 1 super brush
Merkur 37c slant
Rapira platinum lux (3)
Cold rinse
Witch hazel
Boots original bay rum

Comfortable shave today didn't over do my neck, this area is not a perfect BBS finish.

Good afternoon all.

Prep: Hot Flannel
Soap: Nanny's Old Grey Bristle Test (Bergamot & Coriander) Soft Soap
Brush: Simpsons Duke 3 Best
Razor: Weber POL/Bulldog
Blade: Super Iridium (2)
A/S: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel, Weleda After Shave Balm
EDT: Penhaligon's Castile

My lather from Nanny's soft soap seemed to go thin on the face really fast, but somehow I ended up with an irritation-free BBS anyway! Perhaps it's the nature of that soap while still providing good protection?

Bath
Prep: Trumpers Lime Skin Food
Hot Flannel
Proraso Blue Cream
Swedish 'New' Type
Personna Lab
Proraso AS Lotion

First use of the "Aggressive Swede" (thanks Mikael). Very light compared to my daily Barber Pole Slant (anything is really). Good close shave but 3 passes and touch up's instead of my usual 2, might try it with a heavier handle and see how it goes.

Today's Shave

Valet Auto Strop
Feather Blade
NSS Arabian Nights Soft Shaving Soap ( Face Latherd )
Kent BK8 Brush

Result Super Smooth Shave

Still closer than a slant bar for me :icon_cheesygrin:

Afternoon, gents.

Monday:

Prep: Real Shaving Company Daily Facial Scrub
Razor: EJ DE89 head with an iKon Bulldog handle
Blade: German Wilkinson Sword (3)
Brush: Ecotools Bamboo Finishing Kabuki brush
Shave cream: Real Shaving Company
A/S: Mandate
Cologne: Mama Bear's Dragon's Blood after work

Prep: Hot shower
Brush: Simpson Chubby 3
Razor: Three Crosses ? GEM Junior for head
Soap: Nannys French Lavender
AS: Ogallala Limes and Peppercorns
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Uberclean :D

This razor makes me happy, one of the best I've used, that has came out from Solingen. I think I damaged my GEM, when buffing/cleaning it :(, the SE blade is kind of loose. On the other hand I did buy a lot of new GEMs and SEs day before yesterday :D

It's probably my least favourite of my five Simpsons, though this is to praise with faint damns, as the others are all very good in their own ways and (in the case of the Major) just so damned cute. I like the handle shape, and I can't put my finger on why I don't like it more, to be honest. It's still a very nice brush, of course, and works every bit as well as the others, and I certainly don't want rid of it.

I puzzle myself sometimes, I really do.
