Christmas Day:

Valet Autostrop
Gem SS blade (despined and trimmed,4)
Kent soap
Omega boar brush
Speick Aftershave Balm

Mild shave on a mild (relatively) Christmas morning in the Scottish Borders.

Festive greetings to all shavers.

Christmas day shave:

Hot shower to prep with T+H Grafton shower gel

Razor: Muhle R41
Blade: 7 o'clock yellow (2)
Soap: DR Harris Windsor cream
Afters: Penhaligons Blenheim Bouquet cologne

Couple of minor nicks, had to use a styptic match.
Feeling smooth and clean, smelling very lemony / peppery which is kind of apt.

Merry Christmas!

Cold shower
Proraso pre/post
Proraso Red (hey, it's Christmas!)
M&F blonde badger
Muhle R41 with Astra
Alum
Proraso AS
Proraso ASB

Nice 3 pass BBS. Decent razor this R41 is, yet still - magic of the slant is hard to beat. Loving Proraso red, smell really grows on you.

Christmas Day

Razorock XXX
Vulfix 660
#15 Aristocrat
Gillette 7 o'clock SharpEdge
Barbershop Bay Rum
LEA Balm

Top shave, bay Rum makes me think of Christmas whenever I use it, and so it only seemed apt to use it today.

Ever Ready 1912
GEM Blade
Professor Blighty's shaving soap, Endymion+ Balsam
Kent BK8 Brush
Result BSS WTG

The professor Blighty's was my secret santa box. A nice fruity sent lovely thank you secret santa:heart:

This afternoon, with the duck in the oven:

Razor: Le Grelot 5/8", in UKRob rosewood scales
Brush: Neep Aztec in malachite (29mm extra silvertip)
Soap: Prof Blighty's Rosewood

I'm still not in position to unpack the main collections (the one dusty room still is the one where they'll go, as my book collection carried a LOT of dust into the library), but as my Christmas present I've opened the three parcels I've had since moving in - two razors and two brushes :). Both of today's implements were of the standard I'd expect from the gentlemen who made and prepared them - that is, extraordinary.

My first properly traditional shave since October, and hugely enjoyable.

Christmas Day

Hot shower
Hot flannel
Trumpers coconut soap lathered in scuttle
Simpsons 59 brush
Merkur 37c slant
Gillette 7 oclock black (3)
Cold rinse to finish

DFS

The Trumpers soap lathered up fine i treat it as I would MWF soap loaded the brush well. I was expecting alot less but was plesantly surprised given the poor reports on here :)

Brian

Proraso red/sandalwood shaving cream
Henk walnut silvertip
Gillette New Standard (New Improved)
P&G/B&H Super Iridium second shaves with each
Proraso pre/post shave cream

First try with this razor and cream. The cream is good - it has a nice old school smell (as many have said, though, it's not what I think of as sandalwood). I needed to use more than I expected but it did the job well.
The New Improved is very nice. I seemed to find the blade angle easily and decided to try out the real and knock off Iridiums. First, the real one. Nice smooth, easy first pass. Next, the fake. I could feel the blade on my skin much more and got one or two nicks but not a bad result. Of the two in this very unscientific test I preferred the real Iridium and that's what I used for the final pass and touch-ups.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage rebranded Simpsons best
'Webly'/Wilkinson Light Brigade (NOS)
Nannies hard Lavender SS (thanks Secret Santa)
Lucky Tiger AS and Face Tonic
TGQ 'Leatherneck' extrait

Having used the cedarwood/vetyver version of this soap in the past, I was expecting excellent results with this flavor as well. Yep, same performance but different scent.

BBS results,

Martin

used almost all new equipment today -

gillette slim set to 4
new forest badger brush
gillette yellow (1)
nanny's neroli shave soap
barbershop bay rum
czech and speake frankincense and myrrh edt

what an xmas! new razor and brush from the lovely wife :) merry xmas everyone

Prep - Hot Towel, Simpsons Cream
Razor - Muhle '11 R41
Blade - Astra S/P
Brush - Duke 3 Best
Soap – Marlborough
Cold Rinse/ Witch Hazel/ Wild Man Beard Conditioner (Raven)

Used my new Wild Man Beard Conditioner (Raven), as an A/S and to condition my Goatee... very nice...happy Xmas!!;)

Started Christmas day correctly with a new Astra blade and three passes with my murkur future. Achieved a really nice lather with the fat- much better than I could do a couple of weeks ago. Either that Mitchells is improving or I am.
Cold Water rinse and then some skin serum, and moisturiser which was nice and some so called aftershave soothing emulsion which burned like a bitch.
First and last time for that on my face I think.
But overall: very satisfying.
