RE: 14 jan onWards ...Progress Report!!!

Dear daisy

Progress on 1.5
Saloon blade
Two band
Unction
EJ sea buckthorn

Much better. Razor singing like a canary.
Still a weeper.
May not sell razor now....
It's a whole new land of technique for me.
I'm still too ham
Fisted.
Weight wise.
New years eve.
A new year looms.
A fresh start.
We all have the chance to be greater than we are.
To be be something more than the sum
Of our parts.
I fancy eating more chocolate.
I heard a funny comment yesterday.
A friend couldn't decide if they were now hungry or simply suffering from Christmas greed!
Have a good one.
Blake.

RE: 14 jan onWards ...Progress Report!!!

Dear darling

Oh I have friends to stay.
I know I know you will be saying.
Wot friends.
Well this time of year I hire a couple to make it look I am liked.
So to friends then.
Sean and his lovely wife and nipper are here.
Sean I've known for an hour.
He comes in at 50 quid a day.
So Sean already uses a brush and soap.
Straight away he eyes up my razors.
He is using a #58 and a saloon blade.
Sorted. Smooth as. Loves it.

So I have a shaving buddy.
In my own house. !!
Crikey I never thought I'd get a rentafriend that good.
Hey I even let him use my aftershave.
We share everything.
Well.
Almost everything.
Ahem.
Yours
Timblake

RE: 14 jan onWards ...Progress Report!!!

Dear dolly

Hey hey hey wots happening playmates!?
Progress
1.5
Then
2.00
And a 1.5 under the chinny chin chin.
Or CCC as it is known in our house.

Lovely.
Still feels close. But really slowed it down.
Took the pressure off...again
Unction to finish.
Old spice for lather.
Much better result.
Ah that's better.

Detox time.
No buying shVing crap for a month.
Ha!!!

RE: 14 jan onWards .... Making progress nicely. Shaving buddy in dahouse

Dear dubonnet

I tried a 2.5 and then a 3!!
Lots of lovely nice smelling Arko helped.
This always produces z good lather for me.
My #58 using shaving buddy caught a rough patch in the swirlies under the chin.
Touching up without lather.

I finished with some lush dirty dirty dirty boy cream.
All ok.
No better a finish than on 1.5.
I'll do 1.0 tomorrow for both passes and see what happens.
All good. No weepers cuts nicks or troublesome itches.
Ah.
Razor wheedling for a 1934 OC aristocrat not going well. ...
Drat. Everything is more expensive than even than what Didgy supplies.

RE: 14 jan onWards .... Making progress nicely. Shaving buddy in dahouse

Dear Disney

Awite campers!!!
Up early today without a hangover.
How good does that feel.
Great.
Early shower and shave with Progress on 1.5 for both passes.
Used qed rose and sandalwood mix with 2213 chunky monkey.
Enough lather for cats here, next door and of course our postie.
Who by the way has become a regular visitor at shave time.
I'm not sure what she gets out of it.
Ahem.
Finished with lush Prince cream.

I think as good a finish as before but with more confidence and control.
Less is more. As is often the case.

I get the feeling with this razor that the blade is very exposed all the time.
That said its good to use. Nice weight.
But I get less feedback from the blade.
I can't as easily distinguish how sharp or dull the blade is.
Next I think the corrado....
Maybe.

RE: 14 jan onWards ....Progress...less is more I'm sure..

Dear Dovo

That's what I used today for the first time.
A corrado dovo slant with a magical Gillette blade.
Badger two band fido stylie with parker sandalwood soap.

Two passes with a little under the CCC

Very cool razor to use and love.
Mustn't drop this one.
Big up Dodgy.
U da man.

This razor felt like an old friend in my hand and on my face.
Fantastic!
Cheers

RE: 14 jan onWards ....a Dodgy Dovo does the trick..

Dear dumper

Well it's Saturday.
I'm in Richmond
Since the 22nd Dec the house has been full of guests.
Yesterday they all went.
Now it's a chill in the castle tavern for a couple of nights.
Just me and 'er.
Yesterday I usedmy new to me 1934 aristocrat.
It's in very good nick. From brian at executive shaving Glasgow.
The first TTO ever produced.
It's very much in the style of of a New head wise. Barber pole handle lots of great condition gold plate.
With a Gillette yellow and proraso white lathered with my 2213 it worked a treat.
Lush dirty boy to your bed cream to finish. I find this cream excellent.
It gives a really smooth and clean smelling finish without being over powering.

So that was yesterday and today the same except I used Trumpers Almond cream and the two band.
It is a little smaller to pack. Packs a punch though more than enough lather for two passes.
Now today is a big day.
One year ago I started DE shaving. So to be using the father of all tto's is rather appropriate.
My original post was on TZ watch forum which is where I found out Bout TSR
http://www.tz-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=151030

So one year on and going strong.
Proof that pleasures in life can be innocent and new friendships made which contain generosity and trust.
Even if some of them are American....
Cheers to you all.

RE: 14 jan onWards ....One year ago today.....

It's great to have a house full. My enthusiasm usually lasts about 48 hours. My lot left just before the new year. Bliss.

First call in the new year from my Guildford daughter - "Is it OK for us to come down for a few days at half term?"

"Of course dear, you are all welcome, anytime"

And of course, they are. Doesn't stop me from muttering not long after they arrive.

Dear Slimbo,

Yeah, a year is waaaaay past the point of no return. I believe you may have developed a nasty little habit. Thankfully, I can say I had nothing to do with the current situation. I hope Mrs Mongoose is reading this as well.

Every forum needs a TBS-SLIMBO-MONGEESE type of member to make it a better place. That would be you. Been very fun seeing your freefall down that....you get the idea. Well, I've enjoyed eavesdropping on your always amusing shaving crap journey. Don't forget Slikki, crazy likes crazy.

Congrats on the milestone event.

Your shambling idiot buddy,

Martin

+1 (I learned this skill on an American forum, it's excellent if you don have the time or want to write long answers yourself)

RE: 14 jan onWards ....One year ago today.....

Dear dovo corrado Slant

With a vintage magical blade by Gillette,
Brush by Fido, unction by The Prof and a really lovely peaceful slow shave with a clean finish.
Now that's nice ain't it?

Then good coffee white toast and butter with home made plum jam.
I mean.
That's nice too ain't it?

RE: 14 jan onWards ....What a lovely day...

Dear Dolly Mixture

Well what a cracker!! I am up early at the mo to give my lovely missus a lift to work after knee op.
I knew eventually that her years of
mopping
scrubbing
hauling coal
going up chimblys
cutting the grass
blacking the stove
leading the step
would tire her out.
So I give her a lift. Also I need someone to push start the car in the mornings. I mean I cannot do it all can I?
Ahem ahem.

So when I get back and after I have stacked up the washing by the wash machine and ironing board for her when she gets home I have time to squeeze in a shave. Actually I take my time.
Today Progress with Wilkinson's India saloon blade.
Surrey soap pre GTI formula
Progress two pass.
1.5 and then 2.0
2213 to lather. Really Slick (sic) and comfortable.
Wilkinson sword hydrating gunk to finish.

At last I have the sense of this razor. It is quite head heavy and reminded of the Gillette Toggle to hold and use. Plenty of weight in the handle too actually.
I feel they have made this sucker too aggressive. For me at least. I'd prefer it made with more range at the bottom end.
I don't think I will ever need a setting above 3. I think the amount of blade gap makes this a less flexible tool to use.
Unlike the Gillette adjustable with I can use to suit across the range and really only become un usable for me at 8 plus.
Still I like its finish and I shall hold to it and use it as it takes my fancy.

I feel its time to enjoy what I've got for a while. I am not using what I have got enough so a period of consolidation is in order I think. I would like to try a lot more SOAPS! now. Especially anything Italian.
I like Italian things.
All my cycle it is Italian.
My wife looks Italian!
My coffe and machine are Italian.
My food preference are Italian.
I spend most most of my time cooking and eating.....perhaps a strange change is taking place.
It has with my wife...
