Artisanal April

Razor - Tatara Muramasa -1
Blade - Feather Hi Stainless
Soap - Signature Soaps - Novus Spice
Brush - Chisel and Hound silvertip badger
Bowl - Captain's Choice - Copper
Post - Refinery ASB
Frag - Signature Soaps - Novus Spice splash

Today's shave and to include one of Brian's Signature Soaps, a true artisan, blessings of your heart Brian for you make great Soaps.

The razor was set to one and fitted with a Feather blade.
The soap lathered up a treat with the aid of my C&H brush.

The shave was good and I was able to get a perfect finish even though it took a while longer having to buff the last bits of stubble from along my jawline.

Even though the shave took longer to achieve what I normally do I'm not unhappy with the razor, if it had not shaved at all on setting 1 I think I may have felt cheated but it did it in the end!

All in all a very mild and smooth shave that delivered the goods.
The Novus Spice was fantastic and left my skin feeling supple.

To finish, I applied my Refinery ASB followed by the Sig Soaps Novus Spice splash used more as a frag than an aftershave, perfect!

Until the next time, stay safe and shave happy!

Paul.

@Blademonkey to be blessed makes a pleasant change. I get cursed at home normally for making soaps and using the house as a packing and distribution centre!!

Simpson Duke 2. Two Band SILVERTIP
Pal Injector Matic
Chinese Schick (4)
Speick stick
Thayer’s Lavender witch hazel
Speick Active a/s

The Duke 2 is my favourite knot. Small, but dense and perfectly sized for my tastes. Having enjoyed it in Best Badger I wanted to experience it in 2 band. It shares many of the Best’s fine features, but is ridiculously and luxuriously soft. As I especially enjoy using The Duke with shaving sticks I wanted to test it with Speick, another of my favourites.

The resulting shave was exemplary.

Looking forward to using this brush with a wide range of products.

I can see a future with more Simpson 2 bands.

Wonderful. Enjoy yours gents.
Lovely brush!

Monday 3 April

Back to some shaving normality today with an upbeat feeling because the sun is shining and no rain forecast for the rest of the week.
Reached for the Occams Enoch plus a slightly used Feather pro blade. Synthetic brush (notice I didn’t want to offend so didn’t write
synthetic bristle  ) and the ever reliable smooth scented RazoRock Puros soap.

For me it’s the easiest of razors to use, mind you after the Durham and Kempfe, managing the best angle and pressure is a doddle. Completed two passes plus pick ups, no weepers or irritation, job done.
Splash of Puros after shave and it’s jaunty swagger time fellas!
Alan

Ganders Goat Soap w/Hop, Sage & Birch
Wickham 1912 Apricus & Omega Professional (White) Pure Bristle 27mm
Gillette Hybrid Tech & Lord Extra Super Stainless
Blue Stratos Aftershave

Continuing Artisanal April with one of the best British succes stories: Wickham Soap Company.

You know what? I really don't think there's a lot in it between the better class of Super Stainless from Lord. I think there are simply, two classes of Super Stainless - the standard class, with the Lord Super Stainless and the Shark Super Stainless ... and I'd include the Rainbow brand here, as it's so much like the Shark; then, there's the Extra class: the Extra itself, all the off-brands like Racer, Asco, Crown and then the Lord Cool and the Lord Classic. Run back to back ... and with a little time in between, I'm really not finding a lot between them, particular the three Lords: Extra, Cool & Classic.

Super shave, that! No, make that Extra Super!

Lucky dip blade SOTD...

Omega boar brush
MSC Frosted lavender
Fatip slant
Gillette 365 (1)
Alum Block
Arko Soap
Nivea Sensitive Balm

No complaints today, back to a good lucky dip blade. Plenty sharp enough in the fatip and no qualms over the smoothness, maybe caught a touch on the neck but as likely to be the razor /me as the blade. Found my old alum black and gave it a run out, arko I had to hand to wash up after with and the Nivea always works well.

Another blade in the revisit pile, have a few more blades to try then I intend to have a sort out of anything in the revisit group and have a run back through them to see if I can weadle a few more out and get a manageable group of blades. Guess I then have to find another item to test run, suggestions welcome
