The 3 Soap in this Horemen set and another brilliant addition.
A bit thank you to Marc @Crossan for not liking them lol
Marc you’ve made my week thank you.
As said in the first shave the soaps are very dark & complexed, You could probably say that about all B&M Soaps.
Again i went with the Tatara after having a couple of shaves without it.
This shave was different
dare i say better, whether it was the blade change i don’t know.
The Razor is so light i would be forgiven for thinking i was shaving with Aluminium but how dare i used words like that when this Razor is at the top of its game.
Excuse the pun but it’s a game changer it really is.
I told myself i would only do two passes but i got carried away & had the 3, it’s just worth the 3.
The knot on this brush is meant to be one of the best from C&H, one of the knots that have less Gel,
it’s a cracking knot really but for me they are much of a muchness.
The V14 to the V18 are all fairly similar.
Never mind onwards & upwards
Stay Safe
Mike

Ganders Goat Soap w/Hop, Sage & Birch
Butters Sandalwood Shaving Soap & PAA Doppler Perihelion Synthetic 26mm
Muhle Rocca Stainless & Lord Rainbow Super Class
Pinaud Clubman Musk Aftershave Cologne

Most of the narrative that I have read around the Rainbow Super Class blade from Lord equates the shave with the Big Ben. To me, the Big Ben is smooth but it's not sharp; Rainbow is plenty sharp enough ... most akin to the Shark Super Stainless, to my face.

Apologies to those folks who find the Shark Super Stainless to be a super-smooth ride (and folks do, coz I've read their reviews) but to my face, I find the Shark to be an invigorating shave ... like a good retro-carbon blade. More Classic than DuraSharp, for folks who know their Treet blades.

Yeah, to my face, the Rainbow is a sharp blade ... certainly as sharp as the Shark and Lord Super Stainless blades, but without the comfort of the other branded blades and the Lord Extra. I think I'm pretty clear that the entire super stainless class of blades from Lord are the same sharpness (with the exception of Big Ben) but there is a second comfort level to be found in the Lord Extra and most of the alternative brandings.

I'll save the full detail there for my write-up ... which is forthcoming; just that there are so many damn Lord blades and now I've gone through the rest, I'm having to go back through the ones I already know just as a sanity check. There are 26 blades from Lord and I have 24! Not quite as bad as the SuperMax marathon, but this is certainly a half-Marathon.

This shave contains no reference to men's sexual organs or jizz. Or pubs either when I come to think about it. But it does come themed, 'Wearing my wife's underwear and other ill fitting clothes stories'

20230313_195601.jpg

The wrong knicks - Ikon B1
No 'Y' front? - Super Max
Ouchhhhhhh! - Hive-2 (If you do wear a thong just make sure you get it the right way)
Tights? You're not kidding - Extro Arancia
Granny panties (for grandads) - Extro Arancia splash

'The 'Other desert'?. Tastes like my husband'

Another shave which arrived due to someone else's remarks and over to the Ikon it had to be. Not as though it doesn't see much face time being as it ranks exceptionally high in my shaving world. In this case my half and half version. I have pondered, was there a complete polished B1? If so, I want one. If you have one please let me know and I shall come around and nick it.

A pleasure to use the Arancia once again and a pleasure to once again smell like a bag of Jaffas. I must say though, these Extro Soaps are damn fine and the lather quality top notch.

One small nick from the Ikon through stupidity, but stupidity is something I do very well so nothing new. Calling Doctor Styptic.

All in all a great shave and time to go be my alternative self, Mrs Friendly the night time inspector of cracks in the pavement down the dock Road.

Anyway I shall leave you in the capable hands of some Japanese girlies, TsuShiMaMiRe

As a quickie, something I first experienced when I was 16 and just got quicker, here is last night's shave to bring me up to date. Because I am useless. So this one follows up being themed, 'I am useless'

20230314_154250.jpg

A useless razor - Muhle R89
A useless blade - Feather
A useless brush - Zenith dark synthetic
A useless soap - Signature Soaps Londinium
A useless moisturiser - Simple
A useless shaver - Me

'Over before things started'
'Useless man'

Quick and comfortable was the order last night and this trusted bunch of familiar friends delivered just that. I don't always want a close and intimate shave and I just want clean and fresh. Job done to perfection.

Band Maid proving they are more than just a bunch of pretty ladies but superbly talented pretty ladies......

7th go on the Kai Captain Titan Mild in the Hawk. RR Tuscan Oud, a very strongly scented soap. The old Semogue 820. Creighton balm. And Oud Sahara to the pulse points for all day waftiness.

Not sure where I went wrong as I had heaps of lovely lather and these blades should be good for more than 7. Thought I was being careful but still managed to elicit a few red bits and a bona fide weeper. Oh well never mind.

Back to the Gillette Tech today....

  • 1950s Ball End English Gillette Tech
  • Polsilver SI (1)
  • Gentlemen's Face Care Club Sandalwood Cream
  • Vulfix 404 Grosvenor brush
  • Book ended with The Real Shave Co Face Scrub & Proraso Red Balm.
Realised sometime ago that the Tech is probably one the razors that works best for me. Good to use it for the first time in 2023. Also, a shave that is cheap as chips!

Realised this is the only Tech I have tried. Where do I go next, gents? Pre-war?
