SOTD : Saturday 30th January to Friday 05nd February 2021.

French Pink Clay & Charcoal Face Soap
Tabac Original Shaving Soap
Omega Professional (Boar)
RazoRock German Slant
Dorco Titan (3)
Tabac Original Aftershave Lotion

Third go with this smooth and comfortable blade. It does lack in sharpness, and quite noticeably so. Absolutely suited then to the slant, which gave me that two pass shave in one pass and no touch-ups necessary.

Does this shave qualify for the vintage thread? At what point does any given product become vintage? These Tabac items are from a previous run and no longer available as the line has had a visual refresh. I jest ...

Pre =. Homemade Oil
Razor = Rex Ambassador Setting 3
Blade = Supermax Blue Diamond Titanium ( 1 )
Brush= Yaqi Dice 26mm Synthetic
Soap= Barrister & Mann TERROR
Balm = Terror.
Splash = Myrsol Blue
Decided to go for this terror soap it's so so strong menthol wise that i don't use it much,
even sitting here writing this i can feel it on the eyes, a tad nippy.
I don't think it's the soap i genuinely think it's the balm, it's just to much but i guess it does come with a warning.
First use also of the Supermax ( 1 )probably a 5-6 out of 10 for me. made with imported special swedish steel what ever tha means anyway not the worst.
Over all the shave was top drawer and the Menthol/Eucalyptus is very fresh and finished of with the Myrsol 7953F7D1-7601-429E-BADF-F22BE8A1A424.jpeg

Shave Of The Day Saturday 30 January.

Razor - Pils 118NL
Blade - Souplex
Soap - Klar - Almond
Brush - Shavemac 30mm Two Band Fan
Post - Thayer's Astringent
Frag - Agua Lavanda - Puig

A lovely close and smooth shave was had as I have come to expect from the Pils razor paired with a Souplex blade.
A wonderful Almond scent was given off from the Klar Shaving Soap and as always a slick lather was easy to produce with the aid of my trusty Shavemac Silvertip.
A splash of the Puig Lavender cologne and I'm clean shaven and smelling wonderful.

My pictures today contain some pen porn as it seems to be a hobby that goes hand in hand with shaving!

Pen - Kaweco Lilliput in copper with a fine gold nib.
Paper - Tomoe River FP in cream.
Ink - Graf Von Faber Castell - Violet Blue.

Until the next time, stay safe and take care,

Paul.

@Digimonkey

Great SOTD Paul. Some beautiful items...

I'm just off for a "Google" ;)

Who knew stationery could be addictive?

... and that's exactly where I put it at 5/10. I used to really like this blade, but I waws a multi-pass shaver then and those extra passes obviously filled in for its lacking otherwise. I gets you shaved, it's smooth enough ... it's okay.

Regarding Swedish metal, well, it used to mean something as the mineral content of the iron they pulled out of the ground made especially good blades. Nowadays, steel is all formulated (like water, which has no advantage being bottled at source as it's all demineralised and reconstituted in the process). It's playing on the name.

This blade is now discontinued, but the "Feel the power of Titanium" thing is still very much alive in SuperMax, which certain markets still getting such a blade under the SuperMax and Zorrik brands. I have some to try out soon enough and will be able to make comparisons to these old Blue Diamonds.

Still, I have fond memories of them as it was the first blade I really clicked with when coming to traditional shaving. My memories will always be fond even if my recent re-use was found to be wanting. See it out, though - it's a smooth enough runner.

Nice 1 mate very informative. iv obviously seen Swedish steel blades but this one said special steel which I felt was confusing.
I'll use it again in my next shave and possibly the next again if possible. I made a deal with myself to only use blades 3 times max just so I can try get through them
Im probably only going to use 1 Razor the month of February The Rex Ambassador unless my skin can't take it.

31st January

Prep:
Shower, Palmolive Olive Oil Soap,
Pre: Proraso Green pre-shave
Soap: Ach Brito Mogno
Brush: 24mm Yaqi Sagrada Familia
Razor: Gillette Fat Boy from Pass Around (2 passes on 3)
Blade: Gillette 365 (3)
Post: Alum, 4711 EDC, Nivea Balm

First go on El Gordo. I held off shaving for a an extra day to give it something decent to go after, but kept the setup familiar. I'm sure many of you will have given the Fatboy a run out, but the main things I took away were the solid, quality feel and the absolute mildness of setting 3. Nice enough, but I could have done withing dialling it up at least one more (possibly two.) Still, let's not get greedy first time out on adjustable, eh? Silly nick tidying up around the mouth, but quick dab of the stick and all good.
To be honest, I'll probably forego February's challenge and enjoy contents of my recent PIFs without worrying about restrictions. Something tells me Fattie and the HWF soap is next on the agenda - can't wait :giggle:

Ever-Ready Streamline stropping kit - nice Bakelite clam shell case. Usual damage around the hinges. Strop and stropping razor unused. I'm aware that there were myriad different names for this razor design - depending on age or market - let's just call it a Streamline for the sake of simplicity? If you have never seen this sort of thing before - the razor is on the left - the one you shave with - the other is the stropping device - you insert your dull carbon blade - insert the leather strop and then go back and forwards for a few strokes. I haven't tried it with this particular model - why bother? Modern GEM blades are commonly available.

prep - facial scrub
razor - ER Streamline
blade - modern GEM (1)
brush - Semogue 2015 HD badger
soap - Valobra stick [in the great tallow graveyard]
post - witch hazel
a/s - Nivea two-in-one
balm - none needed
scent - Homme de Caron.

All good - I'd like to think that I'd always turn up to a good party fashionably late - vintage January - my contribution - I had been on a vibe recently of modern aluminium razors - ATT Calypso - Karve - inter-spaced with the Katana - suited me just fine. Let's go back to the Streamline? Ooft - a 1912 for adults? Not a criticism on the 1912 - I own two versions - but a step up. In my experience the Streamline is just a notch below the Cobra classic - in terms of assertiveness. The Streamline is the least dangerous of the two razors - just. Not by much. It sounds awful - but isn't - just pay attention. For those of you that are trying to get the same shave for less passes - this is a razor that might help - but - good examples are hard to find - and moving into silly Slim or Fatboy territory prices. I got mine in a swap for a Feather folding Artist Club razor. So - yes - there you go - Valobra stick all good - as you might expect. The brush? Semogue HD 2015 again - floppy badger - but in a good scritchy way - enjoy your shaves one and all - cheers - I

@Satanfriendly - I'll see your Aldious - and raise you more Perske? I don't have time at the moment - but I could write you an essay on how good a picture this is - Karsh of Ottawa - and how well it has been printed. Filth for filth? :) .

Mon 1st SOTD
Soap RazoRock Mudder Focker
Brush Yaqi 26mm Lucky Dice 2 Band Badger
Razor GEM Push Button
Blade GEM Stainless 10th Use!
Post & Aftershaves Ice Water + Thayers + Hyaluronic + Reuzel Wood & Spice
Super nice lather from the soap! A unique scent, thickly creamy and slick too!
Shave with razor paired with the well-used blade was still good, smooth, and comfortable enough for 3passes without any issues for a DFS to CCF result. Excellent aftershaves. Enjoyable SE session. Rating 9.5/10
