SOTD 2 OCt.JPG

Pre Shave: Hot Shower + L'Oreal Pure Power Charcoal Face Wash and Proraso white
Razor: Gillette 1920 Single Ring Old Type
Blade: NOS Gillette Blue Extra 1963 (#1)
Brush: Vulfix 404
Cream: Taylor of Old Bond Street - Mr Taylor's
Post: Alum Block, Cold water and Humphreys Witch Hazel
AS: Nivea Soothing Balm

The shave was excellent, I have used NOS stainless blades but never a carbon steel one, the PTFE coating clearly helps to preserve these blades. Very smooth and very sharp.

You try as many blades as you wish Paul. I love your SOTD's and get loads of inspiration from them. I have learned so much from you as I am sure many other members here have.
Keep up the good work mate. :)

+ 1 on what Wayne said. P - I look forward to your posts. - you once gave me the advice that when encountering flack - keep your head up and keep going. Apart from anything else - who the f**k am I going to buy my vintage se razors from? My very best regards - yours - I.

Greetings All,

Tuesday shave.

One days' growth and warm shave

Preparation – showered and face washed with Clique Liquid facial soap (mild)

Pre: None
Soap: Palmolive Stick
Razor: Gillette Slim Twist (white handle)
Blade: Personna Blue (2nd)
Brush:Razorock 400 Noir (face lather)

Post Shave: Cold water rinse, then Proraso aftershave Green and Nivea 2 Phase.

Change of software this morning – ‘vintage' soap for a vintage razor. My Roazrock 400 created a very nice, thick lather, very quickly. Lovely shave this morning – 2 passes (WTG and I braved ATG), no major irritation or crimson and nearly BBS.

Does anyone have those darned whiskers that lay flat against the skin (in my case on my cheeks) that cannot be removed without crimson? Cannot feel them when rubbing WTG, but ATG, they are there like an annoying itch.

Cheers,

Brian

Birch Tar Soap
3P Preshave Cream
Vitos Tabacco Shaving Cream
Giles Shaving Co Bowl
New Forest Tubby 2 Brush
Cobra Classic with a Proline-P
Alum Block and Rinse
Homemade Buttermix
Vitos Tabacco AS

The prodigal son returned. Having been signed for at my work place last Thursday....my Cobra went 'walkabout' and I finally found it yesterday!
2 passes for a perfect BBS shave.

Have a great day!

Thank you for the Tag Paul. You are more than welcome mate.
Pleased to read you have found the right plate in the 6c for you.

I have a few Treet blades, I must give them a whirl.

Enjoy. :)
I found the number 6 plate to be just perfect, very smooth and also very effective indeed. It's a cracking razor with a plate for everyone's needs. Try the Treet , very good indeed, not everyone likes them but it would be odd if they did. They may supprise you :) I shall use this blade again before trying a few other blades if that's ok with you Wayne. I don't know if I will be posting on SOTD again due to today's events but I will keep you informed via PM. Thanks mate. P.

Today's shave:

October 3rd is German Unity Day, commemorating the anniversary of German reunification in 1990, so this shave featured something from both parts of Germany and each of the four Allied nations:

- Florena Comfort shaving cream (East Germany)
- Plisson L'Occitane (France)
- Maggard OCv2 (USA) with Windrose handle (Britain) and Sputnik blade (Russia)
- Prince Classic aftershave (West Germany)

:)

The red and yellow thingy in the back is a bit of painted concrete which, uhm, fell off an intra-German border pole where I, uh, found it (a few days later in October of 1990).
