S.o.t.D Saturday 24th May to Friday 30th May 2014

Molton Brown soap
Simpsons Commodore X3
Wickham super smooth club cola
Feather AS D2
Personna med prep
Myrsol Blue
Thayers Original

Great shave. Sometimes wonder why I use other soaps when I've got the Wickham. Never fails to deliver.

Prep: Cold Water Splash
Razor: Gillette NEW Deluxe 15mm on a UFO Kaiser Short Handle
Blade: Astra SP (1)
Brush Stumpy Gecko Walnut 2-Band
Soap: MWF
Post: Witch Hazel Splash
Aftershave: Proraso Splash

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

Nice black ebony brush Brian made
1972 SH Super Adjustable/Iridium
RL Safari SS
Lucky Tiger AS and Face Tonic
RL 'Safari' EdT (old juice)

First couple times using the brush was with a cream. Something I have to work on yet, but then I'm not whatcha call a brush expert or 'enthusiast'...Thank God!!! Man, that can get a little nuts and forget about buying a bunch to save on shipping.

The soap worked pretty well this third time. Next time will be a little more loading and that should be the tweak I need. I mainly use soaps (or at least I did in the past), and this brush is one that I'm looking forward to pairing up more with those. Anyway, it's still got a ways to go to break in. Nice having something new like this.

This darn razor has convinced me once again about it being really good. Been way too long since using one of the short Supers. Good to have in the arsenal.

BBS results,

Martin

Saturday xxiv, May 2014

Prep: Hot shower, Dove Men+Care Revitalising Face Wash
Pre: Cold water splash, Proraso Crema Pre Barba (Green)
Brush: Vulfix Boar Brute
Soap: QCS Vetiver
Razor: Valet VC3
Blade: Feather FHS-5 Hi Stainless #1
Post: Guerlain Vetiver ASL, Guerlain Vetiver Soothing After Shave Gel
Fragrance: Guerlain Vetiver EdT

Result: I have some serious love for the Guerlain Vetiver family. The ASL is calming dos not sting. The gel really cools and the EdT is sublime and lasts well. The QCS is a fine soap and I now know it is quite thirsty. Really whips up a good, thick, cushioning lather. Splendid!

All the best,

Jon

Prep: Hot shower
Pre: Murdock Avalon pre-shave oil
Soap: NSS Warm Spice
Bowl: Woodhead Pedestal
Brush: MÜHLE Kosmo silvertip synthetic
Razor: Weber + Bulldog
Blade: Sputnik (1)
After: Oldspice AS, Limes Skin Food ASB

After using various new Russian blades I thought I'd compare and contrast against my usual Sputnik. This blade does perform very well in my Weber and so far only the Rapira Swedish SS blade has outperformed it.
Almost BBS but forgot a tiny patch under my chin.

Enjoy your day, people.

Wednesday

Cella
FS Pur Tech Synthetic
Gem Clog Pruf
Gem blade
Tabac AS

Love the Cella! Having to mash the synthetic brush into my face with much more force than natural brushes takes some getting used to, but one you do the results are great.

Prep : cold water and Proraso Sensitive pre shave cream
Brush : Omega boar
Soap : Proraso Sensitive
Razor : Gillette Old
Blade : Sputnik
After : Nivea sensitive post Shave Balm

Tried face lathering today did not do that well to be honest and had to fill up on soap after first pass Oh hum.
Nice easy shave but not as close as using my 7 O'Clock but doesn't feel as risky either.
Confirming that I like open combs though.

Cheers Paul
