Elemis post shave healing mask [emoji15]

The Elemis was a gift from the missus so I feel obliged to at least give it a try. To be honest it just takes away all the manliness of the shave and smells awful. Gutted cos I bet it cost a pretty penny and if she'd asked me I could have had a couple of things off my wish list [emoji21]

Three Pass - WTG, WTG & ATG

"To be used with Durham Duplex blades"

I have a couple of NOS blades, both from 1911 (7th November for a US Made one and 4th July for the British Made) - I went with the British Made. Both have been honed by a pal on a Welsh slate progression and then finished with CrOx on balsa. Stropped on leather, good to go on a test area of my hand.

Well, the first pass on stubble was not as good as it might, so I swapped over to a modern Personna blade which has been well used, but stropped after each use and most recently given a little more of an edge with Elsterglanz on balsa-backed firm foam and stropped on leather.

That worked!

Re-doing the WTG pass and making one ATG pass, I got very smooth indeed! Two areas just to polish up and I'm happy with my anniversary shave for this old device - it's not one which is loved by many anymore, but it certainly is by me. I've found previously that the stubble grows through smoother, so I'm expecting a nice smooth face for a short while now.

Quick rinse, splash of Pinaud Clubman VIBR ...

Lovely job! I don't get that burn that many refer to with this aftershave. I get a real warmth, but a numb warm. No burn.

back to the 2013 r41 after a 2011 r41 shave on monday. i much prefer this newer version, its a lot easier to use and doesnt take the concentration levels needed to uses the 2011, i reckon ill move the 2011 version on as i cant see me using it now. the 2011 r41 is a beast of a razor and im always impressed by the first pass, i just prefer the easier shave of the 2013.

EJ DE3D, shim, Rapira Swede
Hand-carved Beech 24mm Finest 2-Band
Kent Soap
Barbershop Bay Rum
SFH Lime Shave Oil
Yardley Citrus & Wood EdT

Back on the fat! T'was good too so I'll be having another go with it tomorrow. The razor, shim and blade combo whacked off two days growth with ease and gave me one of the smoothest shaves in recent times. Yon SFH shave oil is good as a post shave balm but I don't fancy shaving with it. Smells great too. The Yardley is a very good value, classic EdT and one I'd recommend folks having a sniff of. Might be only £7.50 for or 50ml spray bottle but it doesn't smell cheap to me. But then I like Old Spice so what the heck do I know...
