S.O.T.D. Saturday 22nd March to Friday 28th March 2014

Pre: Village Barber oil
Soap: RazoRock ABCBA
Brush: Morris & Forndran 3-band "Super Silvertip", Style-1/3
Razor: EJ DE89 with Templ8 custom handle
Blade: Rainbow (4)
Post: Captain's Choice Lime

First time with the ABCBA, and I like it...a lot! Very refined almond scent without the "sweet cherry" scent sometimes attributed to Cella. Lathered easily with plenty of slip/glide. Blade edge nearly failed completely during the final pass requiring lots of blade "buffing" to clean up my problem area under my chin.
Last time with the M&F 3-band (going on BST soon).

Thursday

Evening, everyone.

Prep: Claus Porto's Lime-oil face soap
Razor: EJDE89
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (6)
Brush: Ecotools Kabuki
Shave soap: 1902 Menthol
Aftershave: Homemade Alpa Fougere splash
Cologne: Alpa Fougere

A very good shave this morning. I find that I get excellent results from Darron's sample puck by rubbing it on my wet face then using the brush on the puck to pick up some extra lather. This results in a full, thick cream that really does the job.

Just a light shave this evening ...

Edwin Jagger Traditional Shaving Soap (Cooling Menthol)

Edwin Jagger Hydrating Pre-Shave Lotion (Mentholated)
Ogallala Bay Rum Lime & Peppercorn

Face Lathered
Two Pass - WTG & XTG

... after the very excellent Durham Dorset shave last night, I just wanted to level up and take the day's growth off this evening.

Very much enjoying the mentholated products from Edwin Jagger and the gentle, smooth shave from the Bic, the Ogallala afterwards gave the fire!

Muhle R89 Rose Gold w/ Feather
Executive Shaving Buffalo Horn Bowl
DR Harris Arlington in LE bowl 332/1000
eShave Aftershave Soother Verbena Lime & GFT Skin Food

First ever shave with any DR Harris products and I was seriously impressed. The density, lubrication and scent are at least as good as anything else I have ever used. The post shave is almost as good as MWF, but with the during shave performance seems superior, never thought I'd say that. The LE bowl is also pretty nice, certainly perfer it to the regular one. I always liked the look of the C&S 88 bowl and this seems vaguely similar, but much less expensive.

Prep: Cold Water Splash
Razor: Red Tip Rocket
Blade: 7 O'Clock Yellow (1)
Brush Gecko Stumpy Walnut 2-Band
Soap: MWF
Post: Witch Hazel Splash
Aftershave: Aqua Velva

My first shave with my backup Red Tip Rocket, just checking it shaves as well as my original one.

A lovely mild quick 2 pass cold water face lather shave, these really are the best shaving rocket's IMO.

Which generation brush is that? I like the way it's blooming a bit (if synthetics can be said to bloom), my Plisson brush is quite unforgivingly non-blooming - the one trait I wish it didn't have!

A Tabac shave this morning with my newly acquired Tabac AS (thanks Boots). A great shave and I like the AS, still getting whifs of it now more than an hour after the shave.

Semogue 620 Boar Brush

11th shave for this particular blade, and it's got at least another 2 in it. No issues whatsoever and the shaves are close, irritation free and without blood. Why am I still bothering with DE razors?

Friday xxviii March, 2014

A red letter day. After 21 months of living in this house I have shaved in my en-suite after we managed to agree on a suitable cabinet. A happy day indeed!

Prep: Hot shower, Savon de Provence sandalwood soap
Pre: Tepid water splash
Brush: NF Tubby 2
Soap: Tabac Stick
Razor: Aristocrat # 15
Blade: Personna Lab Blue #3
Post: Alum, Myrsol Blue ASL

Result: Splendid! No having to move from room to room or crouching down over a pedestal mirror. Shave was pretty darn good too.

Have a good day, folks.

Jon
