Yep it is a shavette although i would have been chuffed to bits if it was a real fili i got for 3 quid AD bad never used to be a little but im over it although being up at 6.30 on a sunday morning for a car boot to see if they have any shaving stuff might say otherwise..

Hi really impressed with the collections here wondered if you could shed any light on this set, I have not seen one with the leather case before, is this rare?

It is made in england with no date code but I am guessing 1939 as one of the blue blades is a J date

probably custom made by any contractor

i dont mean custom made. gillette razors were sold by subcontractors which add brush tubes cannisters and put it back in a leathered case. if it isnt marked with gillette than it is definitly not an original part which came with this razor. it was added later to pimp the set by any subcontractor.

Man, that last shave den post by Michael.....I hadda look away a few times and then come back to those pics. Waaay too much to try and absorb all at once. That could hurt! Bad enough I still got the spins a few times, even with limited viewing. Jeez, there is some stuff in that arsenal.

Looks like ohhhh, 6-8 cased Fatboys and a bunch of other Gillette adjustables. Are my eyes messed up, or did I see three Toggles? There's gotta be a name for a trio or more of Toggles.

Pretty crazy collection you got there. Thanks for posting what you did.

thanks for your kind words. so far i didnt know sudburyboy... the last time i wasnt here often. yeah it is a little bit absourd to have 3 cased toggle. two of them NOS with everything. you have good eyes :blush: i have 4 cased fatboys and 3 red dots :s but i've planned since xmas to thin out the doublets.

there are some razor sets which i didnt saw again. like the canadian ball end without knurling real ivory cased set. or the full sterling razor between the two ivory sets.

besides this gillette razor rack i've some pretty rare other company razor sets and some interesting gillette related items like a guestbook entry signed by KingCampGillette and his wife or the the queens award of industrie '67 '67 which was given to stuart hensley (former current president of the gillette company) if someone have the queens award industry set for sale/trade let me know :icon_razz:

Some real beauts there Jamie. I've just started gathering a few vintage razors, but don't think I'll ever reach that standard of excellence in Razorporn (RasiermesserPorno ?). Excellent stuff.
