Calling all you razor collectors

Well Jamie, you made me wanna try more razors......sheeesh. Talk about an enabling guy........that is you.

I'm looking at these things and trying to figure out how some of em shave, and I have no idea at all. That's probably what you hoped for......sheesh. There's a bunch of razors I never even heard of.....including adjustables! Thanks a lot for introducing me to monkeys I never knew I had....

Pretty amazing eclectic collection of shaving crap you got there, plus who knows what else you got in the arsenal.

I am somewhat humbled,

Martin

The razor porn channel is giving good value tonight with some truly gorgeous razors! I've never heard of more than half of them and am never likely to own any of them but I do love me some ogling. Thanks for showing them, gents.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments, just doing my bit for show & tell.

Very nice indeed. I remember most of those. I do covet the Walbusch based purely on looks and guesswork that it's like the Progress.

This isn't going to help matters mate, but it's waaaay better than a Progress, super smooth no matter how far you open her up. Sorry.

Just helping to repay some of Marvin's monkeys :icon_wink: you know you need a Euro monkey to keep the other primates company.
I think that's pretty much everything in the arsenal now contained in this thread starting back on page 4, then again......

Thanks very much Michael, you too have some fantastic new pieces there.
I really like the black Popular and the Deluxe traveller is just superb. I notice you've got it down as a Super Speed, but I think you'll find it's a 1958 TV Rocket (gap between handle & TTO).

I've been working on gathering a few modern razors, early stages yet but we are on the way.

In the middle is obviously a Merkur Futur, which as ugly as it is I do think it shaves well so I have to keep it.

Around the edge from left to right we have.

Merkur 34c
Edwin Jagger DE86
Weber ARC
iKon original closed comb
iKon OSS
iKon original open comb
Feather AS-D1
Muhle R41
Merkur 37c

That is a damn fine collection of quite a few bucks worth of modern, stylish razors. I think the futur, although not my thing, is still a stunning looking razor with ultra modern, minimalist and elitist aesthetics. Imagine the fun you could have with a bespoke stainless JEC handle and most (I think) of those razor heads. It's certainly a very well taken picture and I like the way you've arranged the razors.

Nice collection! I'm not budging from my vintage razors but that Weber ARC of yours is calling to me! I've recently been feeling as though I'm a Weber away from settling up with the RAD and calling it quits. I always think those Merkur slants (37c/39c) look like Two-Face/Harvey Dent (Batman villain).

I'm certainly considering a JEC bespoke. I have a UFO 2 on the way so once I get that I will be able to decide what sort of bespoke JEC handle I will want.

The heads I have that are interchangable with handles are

Edwin Jagger DE86
Weber ARC
iKon original closed comb
iKon OSS
Feather AS-D1
Muhle R41 (not sure I'd want a big heavy handle on this)

I do like to drag this thread back to life every so often with something interesting or rare. So here's the latest super uber rare piece to make it in to the collection.

A VEB Brillant De Luxe made in the former East Germany most likely in the late 1960's early 1970's, a later version also exists with a plastic handle rather than the aluminium of this one, adjustable from 0 to 3. Not exactly top craftsmanship but ridiculously rare, I know of less than 10 in the world that have made it into the hands of collectors.
