I have no problem with tallow soaps but this soap is one that will show you you don't NEED tallow and will stand against all the tallow soaps and hold it's own in my book.

Shave: I took a different approach than with the WR-3 SB - I decided to trust the design, and go in fairly bold. It worked. WTG, ATG, touch-up, BBS. I think I am going to be in the minority, but for me this head feels the more intuitive to use. I'm not sure if the OC makes a huge difference, given that I'm mostly riding the cap; I certainly didn't feel the teeth much, and there weren't many soap trailers. I might revisit the SB, and check if it's just a matter of confidence, but I really enjoyed this shave.

Had an absolute shocker of a shave today, and again it’s totally my fault not the Hone! Somehow I managed to make the Hone draw blood, not just a bit but a lot. For some reason went washing my face in the shower and rubbing the preshave on I didn’t notice the beginning of a raised spot. The Hone and it’s considerable weight did! It took alum, and 3 attempts with a nick stick to finally tame it! It was a ridiculous and self inflicted bloodbath! Anyway the rest of the shave was fine but decided 2 passes would suffice as I didn’t want to do myself further damage!
