SOTD: Saturday 2 March - Friday 8 March 2024.

Thanks for the reply. It seems Gillette India have done a good job.

I'd quite agree! I'd also say that it's sufficiently different in feel to the two popular Indian 7 O'Clocks (and the Winner duo) to warrant a distinct place in their line-up and reason for purchase. In the Russian line-up I think it was just too much like the Rubie or the regular Platinum (and probably the same blade in reality).

Ahem. My Lords, ladies, gentlemen and any scum who may be in attendance. Plus a dog or two.

On behalf of the esteemed members of the Shaving Party I am pleased to present my budget proposals covering the next financial period.

To this extent it will be combined with my SOTD and share the theme, 'Bridgets, budgie smuggling and budgets'

A 2% reduction in razor tax - Muhle R89
An increase in blade allowance - Polsilver Lodz
Brushing of somethings under the carpet - Highlander LFC
A 1000% increase in beard tax - Extro Arzachena
A compulsory reduction in facial hair - L'Occitane Cade balm

'And shave that bloody stupid moustache off before we tax those as well'

The OBR (Office of Bearded Reprobates) have published their latest growth figures and estimates for beard growth. They reflect that smooth faces remain in recession together with a decline in the number of people using proper shaving methods.

It is unsustainable that facial hair is on the increase and beard inflation spiralling out of control. Regretfully we have had to increase the taxation on beards to 1000% in an attempt to bring this inflation back to respectable levels and to stagnate the increase in the number of ugly hairy faces in society. There will be a concession of a lesser 500% increase for those who sport a goatee and unsure if beards are in or out. We will teach them a bloody lesson, albeit of lower punishment than those Big Bushy Beard Bastards.

And finally the threshold at which beards are assessed will be dissolved and anything over 1mm will be subject to the newly introduced Thrashold and will result in a damn good beating.

Other than all that a damn fine shave this evening and thank you.

Over to someone nearly the equal of last night's Japanese journey through the Sphincter

'Some budgies'

And finally

'A Bridget. With some underwear capable of smuggling a whole flock of budgies'

Greetings,

Early morning shave,

A wonderful shave to finish my shaving week.

A comfortable 2 pass + pick ups silky smooth shave with no errors to report.

I’m so glad that I've revisited the Treet dura sharp carbon blades instead of reaching for my usual suspects, they have worked really well with all the razors I've paired them together with so far.

Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of L'0REAL Barber Club Reinforcing ASB.

My face is feeling cool smooth & smelling divine.;)

Keep safe, and enjoy your day ladies & gentlemen.

Forgive me shavers for I have sinned. I’ve recently signed up to a trial website and so for had a number of excellent products to try for free, balms, moisturiser, conditioner, you name it, it’s been sent. They recently offered up a razor system and I thought why not, I’m busy the next few weeks and this may help speed things up! This was a stupid idea obviously and one I regret. I have two different cartridge razors to try out, I’m done with the first and have to say it has done nothing but remind me why I was glad to turn to traditional wet shaving in the first place! It shaves smoothly enough but the minute I ran the blade over my top lip and neck I got a sore raw feeling that I used to get from cartilages. A few days down the line, (using the Leaf Thorn on alternate days) and the ingrown hair bumps, and sore skin returned. Add to that and it has the most ridiculous lubricating strip I’ve ever encountered. It was like I’d stepped out of the Ghostbusters movie, slick wet slime literally dripping off my face and razor. I know this is a trial and prototype but my feedback will be simply 5 blades are too much, I don’t require enough lubricant to make a orgy of pornstars blush and l and that a single blade is all that’s required! I’ve the second different version to still test and I’m not looking forward to it! I only hope they actually look at double/single edge systems in future, not that I think it will make a difference in the juggernaut that’s cartridge systems or my experience will change how they design or go forward with their designs.

Next time I order from Connaught I’m going to get some of these blades tone. I favour guarded blades but willing to give these a whirl

I had a super smooth and comfortable shave this morning. During my shave I was remembering the early days of my de adventure, probably because I was using the R89. Quite the contrast! Some things do get better with age :ROFLMAO:.

I have been known for my penchant for unusual vintage safety razors and have so far used most in my collection mainly due to the availability of the ubiquitous GEM blade. I don’t think I had tried this razor before though, just kept it in my stash cupboard. It dates from the early 1940s and must have been truly as cheap as chips could have been in the day, probably free with a packet of blades. The handle is fixed in place and the GEM just slides in. It was a faultless experience and despite repeatedly running the razor over my face there was no irritation or blood. However, it took time to get bbs, probably twice as long as with a more modern razor. Nevertheless, I’m really amazed that such a cheap old razor could be so effective and enjoyable.
Have a great day fellas!
