Sunday 7th February
Two weeks into a month of vegan soaps, in contemplation of Veganuary (contemplation
) even if I am lathering up exclusively for the month with my new Semogue SOC Butterscotch boar. I'm also restricting to Indian sub-continent blades and a small number of razors: Muhle Rocca, RazoRock Slant, Yaqi Katana & Gillette 1950s Tech.
French Pink Clay & Charcoal Face Soap
Wickham 1912 Apricus Shaving Soap
Semogue SOC Butterscotch (Boar)
Muhle Rocca R96
SuperMax Super Stainless Blue (1)
Floid Moderna (Black) Aftershave
Onwards and upwards through a run of SuperMax blades for which I made a post over in the blades forum (see:
https://www.theshavingroom.co.uk/co...esident-supermax-specialist.53350/post-817105) about the ones I'm running through at the moment, particularly the Super Stainless blades.
Tonight was a first run with the so-called SuperMax Super Stainless Blue (even labelled "Blue" on the pack) and while it bears the same corporate typography on the blade as the V(idyut) SuperMax Super Stainless (in the blue pack) it does actually say "Super Stainless" on the blade rather than merely "Stainless".
I believe it is the same blade as the corresponding blue pack blade in what I'm calling the legacy line as well as the green packaged Super Stainless in the current global line. It certainly felt the same as the other Super Stainless blades from the SuperMax house. What I think we're seeing is a succession of rebrands; more of a timeline than a confusion of markets, or whatever. That they all seem to exist at the same time is perhaps more down to just how many of these blades have been made.
Anyway, enjoyed ... and as per the others of the same ilk, it's a good, honest, workaday shave that pulled the same 8/10. Consistency does seem to be the key with these blades and to my face, they've felt good across three shaves. We'll see with this one.
