SOTD Sat 5th-Fri 9th Jan

Wednesday 9th

Hot shower
Hot flannel
Droyts shaving soap scuttle lathered
Simpson Commodore 3 brush
Merkur 37c slant
Rapira super stainless (1)
Cold rinse
Nivea post shave balm

Reasonable shave. The lather from the Droyts was a little thin. It wasn't far off but a little less water needed next time. My first shave with this soap, it's not up in the same level as MWF or Nanny's soap. Will give it another try next week.
Rapira blades I like. I've not had a poor one yet of the different types tried.

Wednesday 9th January

Hot Shower and Facial Scrub
Vitos Pre/Post Cream
Ford & Medley 333 5/8 Razor
Semogue SOC 2 Band
Nannys Cedarwood & Vetyver Soap

Organic Shea Butter

Fat Jacks Tash Wax

A lovely shave this evening. 3 pass BBS

Prep: Cold Water Splash
Razor: Merkur 34c HD
Blade: Rapira Super Stainless (1)
Brush: Simpson Duke 2 Best
Soap: Cella
Post: Proraso Menthol Post Cream
AS: Speick Splash

A nice 2 pass cold water face lather shave.

I've not used my Starter DE razor for ages, so i decided to use it tonight.

1st time i've used that blade, seems decent enough very similar to the Rapira Stainless, i used for my last two shaves. about £5 for 100 from best shave iirc

1st time i've used Cella, it's pretty much the same as VITOS but in an annoying small red tub. I wont buy this one again, i'll stick with VITOS Super Extra Coconut for my Almond fix.

WEDNESDAY EVENING

EJ Chatsworth Barley Chrome
Bolzano Superinox (1)
Semogue LE 2012 brush
Nannys Cedarwood and Vetyver hard soap - face lathered
Witch hazel
Castle Forbes AS balm

Close shave tonight, but a small nick on the jawline and a trace of irritation.

See as these are all tried and tested I think either the blade doesn't work well with this razor, or I should have palm stropped it first.

I'll use the same combo tomorrow and see if it's any better.

Castle Forbes limes cream
Henk walnut silvertip
Progress on 2, 1 with Personna Lab Blue (2nd shave)
Original Source whole leaf Aloe and Ginseng milk a/s balm

This a/s I heard about in the local 99p shop. It's got a slightly herbal mint smell, more like actual mint leaves than a generic mint scent. Stung mildly at first then soothes. Smells great and works well so I'll be buying more of this 100ml bottle

This morning:

Razor: Kropp 6/8", ivorine scales, restored by Jamie
Brush: Neep #1145 onyx chess pawn 26mm extra silvertip
Soap: Provence Sante verlaine

Thursday

Gillette Fat Handled Tech (English)
Red Personna SS (2)
Semogue 1307
Erasmic Supreme Soap Stick

Nivea ASB
Body Shop White Musk EdT
Forest Fresh AS

Three pass, face lather.

Very good shave indeed.

The Erasmic Supreme Soap stick has been completely used; it is gone, over and the case binned. It is a nice workaday stick but lacks the traditional barbershop smell of the otherwise the dreadful Erasmic (ordinary) soap stick - so, as decent as it performs, it won't be replaced.

Both the Body Shop White Musk EdT and the Forest Fresh AS are nearing the end of their lives too.

This will be a year of using and depleting previously purchased stock with minimal acquisition and replenishment.

Thursday:

LEA Menthol cream
Semogue 2012 Special Edition
GEM OCMM
GEM blade
Professor Blighty's Isen Vann AS
LEA AS Balm

Was more than half asleep this morning so decided for a cold water shave and all of my most minty things. It certainly did the job, wide awake and with a lovely smooth shave. Happy days.
