SOTD Sat 2nd Feb - Fri 8th Feb 2013

Afternoon, all.

Sunday:

Prep: Claus Porto Lime-oil face soap
Razor: EJ DE89 head with an iKon Bulldog handle
Blade: Gillette 7 o'clock Green (2)
Brush: Ecotools Bamboo Finishing Kabuki brush
Shave cream: Kiss My Face unscented
A/S: Pinaud Clubman

Proraso pre shave
Rod Neep brush
Taylors 3000 Razor
GFT Coconut Soap
Alum/Witchazel
Professor Blightys balm and a/s
Mont Blanc EdT
I really enjoy this razor because the longer tang and shorter blade length seem just about right. Following some advice about adding baking powder to hard water I tried that for the first time and even though it seemed to make a difference when I experimented with other soaps, this GFT just disappeared off my face on the second pass - maybe I should have spend more time loading it but I was not impressed with the first few times I used it.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage rebranded Simpsons best
'Webly'/Iridium
Lentheric SS
Boots AS Balm (thanks NTS)

The Boots was good today since my skin's been a little dry for some reason for the last few days. This very thick non alcohol based stuff did the trick.

This razor/blade combo is one I could get hooked on pretty easily.

BBS results,

Martin

Today's shave

Merkur 39C Slant Bar
Wilkinson sword Blade
Kent BK8 Brush
NSS Citrus Zinger (face Lartherd)
Geo.F.Trumper West Indian Extract of Limes Cologne

Two days stubble sorted without mercy :icon_biggrin:

GFT almond soap
Vulfix Bodger
Service set LC new, Trig, Treet Platinum
Barbershop Bay Rum
RSC balm

Now shaving consecutive days is unusual for me. Couldn't resist lathering up today though. Had to change blades mid-way through and the Treet Platinum seemed to struggle more than the dulled Trig! Result - not very comfortable, the odd surviving rough patch, couple of weepers and a little bit of neck irritation. Lessons, every other day is still a better option for me and I can't see the Treet Platinum ever being a favourite.

Sunday 3rd

Hot shower
Hot flannel
Trumpers coconut hard soap scuttle lathered
Simpsons POLO 10 best brush
Weber POL stainless bulldog handle
Gillette & oclock black (3)
Cold rinse
Witch hazel
Boots original bay rum

Very comfortable shave from the Weber and 7 oclock black. New blade in for tomorrow.

Soap from Aleppo - Morris & Forndran 25X53 - Gillette Fatboy - Polsilver #3 - Pre Proraso green tea - Shaving soap Proraso green tea - Alum block - Thayers Original - ASB Proraso - ASL Proraso.

Hot shower
Proraso pre, white
NF Tubby 1, Nanny's Teatree and Aloe Vera soft soap
Gillette Slim (setting #4), Perma-sharp (3)
Cold splash, alum block
Clinique post-shave healer

Turned the Slim back down from #5 to #4. I realised that my face was still a bit sore from yesterday so I was a bit trepidatious... which ended up with too much touching up being necessary. Despite that, no nicks, no weepers and nary a sign of any irritation... and smooth enough all over.

Keep telling myself to give my face a day off... but I just can't help shaving every day... how sad!

Gillette Sensor3 (3)
Muhle Silvertip Fibre
Taylor's Jermyn St cream
Simple Rich moisturiser
Floris Santal edt

I reckon cartridges are the way forward for me when away from home. Admittedly, I don't think it'll be a Sensor3 - not as smooth as the Fusion ProGlide I trialled after Christmas but a lot kinder vis-a-vis irritation. I'll finish off this blade, go back to DE, and then maybe try the Mach3 over half term.

Think I've finally got the hang of this Himalaya soap!

Proraso white pre/post
NF tubby 1
Soap opera Himalaya
Weber DLC/UFO Red Bronze Goliath XL
Polisilver stainless
Profs ASB mixed with 444

Beautiful easy shave no irritation. I used the super wet brush method with this soap and it worked a treat.

Proraso red
Henk walnut silvertip
Gold Fat Tech with Lord Super Chrome
Fahrenheit EDT

Nice. Wasn't sure if this blade would be sharp enough but seemed so by the end

Muhle R41 on a Weber bulldog handle
Polisilver super indirium
Rubberset 200-3 finest badger
Proraso Red cream
Tescos FXM aftershave balm
Pinaud Clubman Citrus Musk

Was a bit apprehensive as my first go with the R41 but no probs 3 passes and no weepers!
also i'm going to post in the shopping thread but the Tesco balm reduced from £2.50 to £1.00 is very good!

SOTD Sun 3rd Feb 2012

Hot flannel
Edwin Jagger aloe vera shaving soap
Unknown brush
Gillette "Fat Boy" from lending pool, set to 2
Gillette super thin on second shave
Alum
Real Shaving Co. aftershave balm

This shave was much more satisfying than yesterday when I set the razor to 1. The feedback was better and the shave feels smoother. Still just practising with a WTG pass only but I can see why people go for these beauties!

Sunday 3rd February

Hot Shower and Facial Scrub
Shavex Brushless cream
Kai Captain Excelia (Japanese Style)
Semogue SOC 2 Band in Cherry
C&E Nomad Soap
Alum Block
Organic Shea Butter
L.T. Piver Eau pour Homme
Morgans Classic Pomade
Brian's Own (Moustache Wax)

An excellent 2 pass shave. Very relaxing after a blustery walk up Pen y Fan!
