Very quick shave this morning as I fell asleep as soon as I got in from work last night and slept through until half 6 this morning. About 10 hours sleep in all. I need it. Stonking cold, so I oughtn't really be going in, but I don't really have a choice.

Prep: Cold rinse
Razor: Filarmonica 14 Especial, just under 7/8"
Brush: Neep #1287 cobalt blue tulip horsehair
Soap: Pre de Provence

The razor is just back from Rob, who tweaked and fettled it for free and worked further on his beautiful scales. It shaves superbly. Thanks!

Friday:

LEA stick
Semogue 2012 SE
GEM Clog Pruf
GEM blade
Witch Hazel
Barbershop Bay Rum
Nivea Cool Kick ASB

Nice shave, lovely and smooth.

Friday:
Gillette Blue II Slalom
Noxzema foam, mentholated
Superdrug Forest Fresh AS
Azzaro Pour Homme EDT

Cold shower
Avalon Organics lavender cream (brushless)
Merkur 37c w/Astra
La Toja AS
Rene Kern ASB

Well, this Avalon cream certainly feels good on the skin and really gives great post-shave care, but I couldn't even approach BBS with it. Need to try with my Injector, perhaps, but still I only see this as a viable option for a quick DFS type of shave when you need to rush out for work and look presentable. Shave comfort was also on the lower and, although definitely better than many other brushless creams/gels I've tried. Proraso/Noxzema foams admittedly allow for a better shave, but are much more harsh on the skin. And none of the above come close to any decent lather cream/soap, still.
So it's back to Tabac stick and Muhle synthetic for the next quick-o.

P.S. with Avalon Organics made an aftershave balm though.

Thursday 28 Feb & Friday 1 March

Prep: Shower with Nivea Q10 facial wash
Pre: Cold water with Proraso white
Brush: Grosvenor 404 "bodger"
Razor: Merkur 46C Travel
Blade: Rapira Super Stainless
Soap: Viking Sensitive
Post: Sal Alum, Thayers Witch Hazel ASL, Somerset's ASB
Fragrance: Acqua di Parma Colonia Intenza

Result: Dark hotel bathroom (why is the sink area always dimly lit?) but a fine couple of shaves. I am close to finishing the Viking sensitive, which is a shame as it is a fine cream, but keen to move on to creams new and exciting whilst I am on the road. I am truly impressed and surprised by just how good cold water shaving is - my skin feels much less irritated then when I was using hot water. Lovely and soft too. Away for four nights next week, so will need to refresh the shave kit.

Happy St David's Day to you all, especially our Welsh brethren.

Pre hot towel + De Verguldehand shaving cream + Semogue SOC boar + Gillette Contour with Contour cartridge #4 + Thayers Medicated + Herbíssimo balm

This time the shave was less close than yesterday, not sure because of the cartridge or what... anyway, I'll rest from it this weekend and next Monday I'll try another Contour compatible brand.

Cheers!
