FIRST HOLIDAY SHAVE

Gillette aluminium handled rocket
Gillette Bleue Extra (1)
Culmak junior brush
Myrurgia stick
Witch hazel
Bulldog AS balm

Up at 4 for the early flight from Exeter to Jersey (via Guernsey).

Am now comfortably ensconced in our B&B and am freshly showered and shaved and ready to see what delights St Helier has to offer. :)

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage butterscotch Ever Ready badger
1958 Executive/Feather
Klar Kabinett SS
Lucky Tiger AS and Face Tonic
way too hot for any kinda EdT

Last couple shaves have been with the same razor/blade combo and the same soap. I gotta thank Paul once again for introducing me to the Klar.....really nice stuff.

BBS results,

Martin

Gillette Slim Adjustable
Derby (2)
EJ black badger
La Toja shaving stick
Floris No 89

Hmm. Set the razor to 3 with yesterday's Derby in it. The razor's a joy to work with but I've not had a close shave today by any means. That could be to do with the low setting, the dull(ish) blade and me getting used to the razor - a combination of the three is most likely. Considering the variables'll otherwise be broadly the same, I'm not sure whether to dial up to 4. Or even stay at 3 above but change to 4+ below the jaw line. Choices...

I've started using 4 as a rule with maybe a dash of 5 under the chin 3 is great for learning but just doesn't get close enough for the effort you put in. I may even try 5 for the first pass when I've had time to get used to it on 4.

First shave with -

Merkur 38C (form the Hut for a ridiculous price!)
Blue Diamond - Fresh
Somerset's Sensitive Shave Oil
Arko
No-Name Chinese Badger Brush
Nivea Q10
Limon Kolonyasi

Not bad at all, quite aggressive but pretty smooth. Felt a little hot in places and some variation in closeness but apart from a brief flirtation with the Lord LR1822 I've just been using the Gillette Slim Adj. Will persevere and see how it goes.

I really would throw the Derbies in the bin!

I'm inclined to agree didn't get on with them in the Slim.
