SOTD Sat. 20th April to Fri. 26th April 2013

Thursday evening

Razor : EJ DE86
Blade : Feather
Cream : Ingrams
Brush : C&E Super badger
Splash : Old Spice whitewater.

A week of great shaves on returning to my EJ. Mild razor with a sharp blade. I'm start to like this combo.

Friday 26th

  • EJ DE89 'Barley' with shim & Rapira 'Swede'
  • Simpsons Colonel X2L
  • Real Shaving Co. Shave2 SC with Lavender EO & bowl lathered
  • Blue Stratos AS
  • Astral cream
  • Paul Smith London EdT
My new Barley is just lovely, the brush a dependable wonder and the RSC makes a lot of lather from a very little amount of cream. This RSC is the brown labelled moisturizing version and does have a scent which is predominately tea tree. Even with 5 drops of Lavender EO added, the lavender smell was not really that prevalent and if anything seemed to enhance the original tea tree. Perhaps the sensitive version would have no scent at all? However it is a brilliant cream so in future, I'll dispense with the EO, the messy bowl lathering and just face lather as normal. I feel thoroughly refreshed and with the excellent fragrance of PSL, I'm in grand fettle!

Apologies for the lack of pictures - I've not quite been firing on all cyclinders of late.

Notes: Tiny, weeny razor, but it can still shave ok. 2 passes and a touch up, reasonably close. Little sting.

Hot Towel
Proraso Pre and Post
Ingrams
Muhle R89
Gillette Yellow 7 o clock Sharp

Not a bad shave, a few nicks here and there nothing major. Didn't feel as good as my experience with Monsavon but good enough.

Friday

Prep: Hot Shower
Cream: T&H West Indian Limes
Brush: Neep 28mm Extra Silvertip in Kenya Soapstone
Razor: Gillette New Bostonian
Blade: Gillette SuperThin
A/S: T&H West Indian Limes
Cologne: T&H West Indian Limes

Excellent Shave, I like this razor, a tad more aggressive than the Long Comb News I have. I looks pretty too :)

Good afternoon, all.

Prep: Glycerine Soap, Cold Water
Soap: D.R. Harris Windsor
Brush: Simpson Duke 3 Best
Razor: Polished Weber/Bulldog
Blade: Sputnik (1)
Post: Thayers Cucumber WH, Clinique Post-Shave Healer, Clinique M Lotion
EdT: Lalique Hommage a l'Homme

Great shave today after yesterday's less than satisfactory one with my old Ball End Tech. I plan on comparing Sputnik to my Voskhod and Rapira Swedes over the next week to see which one comes out on top. All three are great blades.

I used mine for a while and never quite got the hang of it. But with the head near perpendicular to my face, and with light and numerous short strokes it is superb, especially on a heavier handle.

I just love the common bar handle. Solid, simple and sturdy yet with purposeful elegance. A man's razor handle.
