. I struggle with the grip when trying to do a S-N XTG pass on my neck, I just can't seem to figure out how to hold the razor. I guess that will just come with practice.

Straight up, as it were? Razor opened all the way up to straight, two fingers on top either side of the pin (four in all), in the near hand, thumb under, blade outside of hand, is my approach.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage butterscotch Ever Ready badger
'Webly'/Schick Plus Platinum (NOS)
Surrey SS (pre VDH reformulation)
Lucky Tiger AS and Face Tonic
no Edt.....waaaay too hot outside

The old Surrey is probably my favorite all around shaving soap. Very little scent left to the stuff, but no big deal. Performance is top notch.

BBS results,

Martin

Nice one, thanks for the tip. I'll give it a go tomorrow morning.

Happy to be useful :). If I remember when I get home about midnight I'll shove up a picture of the grips I use.

This morning:

Prep: Face wash, Imperial Leather bath soap, cold
Razor: Joseph Rodgers "The Favorite", restored by Jamie
Brush: New Forest High Mountain Badger
Cream: Trumper's Sandalwood
Aftershave: Prof Blighty's Rosewood
Scent: Trumper's Sandalwood

Used the Invisible Edge 3" strop - far more draw than the one Carl so kindly gifted me. Fifty laps on that gave me the best shave I've had from this razor :).

A fantastic shave today. I über face lathered :)

Razor: ikon S3S
Blade: lord super
Brush: M7 Super
Soap: Prof B unscented glycerine
Cream: TOBS lemon & lime
Post: Nivea

A great lather. The slip of a glycerine soap and the cushion the cream lead to a perfect shave.

Ikon S3S Bamboo
Gillette Bleue Extra (5)
Simpsons Eagle 3 3-band
Nannys Down Home Summer soft soap
Witch hazel
Bulldog AS balm

Not quite as close as last night but still a good shave. Think this is the last go with this blade though.

Got a cracking shaving related injury. Slipped when loading the blade and it took off a lovely flap of skin. Not done that for a while and I don't recommend it.
