Prep: Hot shower
Brush: Rooney Victorian
Razor: E A Berg
Soap: MdC
AS: Proraso
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Very, very close :D
First time with the Proraso AS, I like it. It got a long menthol kick after the splash (longer blue Italian Floid) :D Cheers HunnyMOnster for the AS and Nigel for the soap!!

Feather Double Edged Razor Blade
Pure Badger Shaving Brush
Blue beards revenage shaving cream
Alum
Witch Hazel (distilled from Boots chemist)

Simple two pass (WTG and XTG) left me feeling refreshed for today at work. Shame work is going to be hell again.

Nothing interesting to say on the shaving front, but Konstantinos: jolly good show old boy!
Just seen this - Thanks! ;)
And just because, I've made the decision to get into straight shaving, so with perseverance I'll hopefully have some promising upcoming SOTDs...

Shower
Nivea for men deep cleansing face wash
King of Shaves oil
Palmolive stick
Kent brush if cheap origin (!)
Rolls Razor
Nivea sensitive ASB
Followed up about 10 mins later with Bulldog moisturiser

Two pass shave. No need for styptic today, no cuts and no irritation. Lather was excellent, think I've perfected using the sick just right now. Very good for important first contact with a supplier today (sat in a coffee shop having a morning brew) :) then suited and booted. Lookin' sharp.

The work spent on the hone and serious stropping last night has paid off.

Tuesday

Ow ow ow close shave this morning.

Prep: Hot shower, left some water dribbled onto top of soap puck, left brush in warm water to soak

Brush: EJ Badger
Razor: Merkur 34C HD
Blade: Derby (new)
Soap: ToOBS sandalwood soap in wooden bowl

Shaved WTG, XTG, XTG, touched up ATG on neck

Styptic pencil

Nivea aftershave sensitive balm

... youch youch youch, got a large cut on my neck just underneath the jaw where it meets the neck. Small nick that kept on bleeding - had to resort to old fashioned bit of paper to allow clotting to occur without looking like sweeny todd!

Think I used a bit too much pressure whilst shaving along my jawline and on the neck as it all feels really close - like about 2 layers of skin have been taken off

it's all a learning curve eh?

Back to the 80's with my cologne today. Never bought it back then . . . I was a Kouros / Antaeus lad. Others wore Polo, a couple wore Lacoste and our kid wore Cacharel.
I still use Kouros for those special occasions, I can't find another scent I really like.

Tuesday

Gillette M3 - hmm I know
NF Tubby 2
Bluebeards revenge SC
GFT Sandalwood skin food
GFT Moisturizer

Just an 1 and a bit pass shave, so ok. Using the M3 was no better or worse than using a DE, just works out more expensive. Also, perhaps with repeated use may start to cause irritation due to the extra blades. Back to DE tomorrow

Tuesday:

Merkur Slant 37c
Perma-Sharp super
New Forest Tubby 1
Palmolive cream
Bulldog asb

Due to a hectic day, this was a quick shave in the late afternoon. In fact, it showcased the efficiency of the mighty Slant - one single pass and a brief touchup to the neck area left me smoother than I had thought possible from such a speed shave. Top-notch :D

Wednesday
  • Gillette Fusion ProGlide
  • Semogue 1305
  • D R Harris Almond Oil shaving soap
  • Aramis Tuscany cologne[/list:u]

Never owned Tuscany before but can remember sniffing it many years ago (in the 80s).

Found some old-style bottles for sale - 50ml for £15.00 so I snagged one without trying it.

Blokey, but ideal for daily wear. Mrs Vinny likes it too.
