I wonder if Gillette sold their production equipment for the Flare Tip to China and that the current Weishi/Baili's etc are made on the same machines albeit with modifications, the Weishi, I think is also plated brass, and at least to my layman's eyes is similar. We know Wilkinson Sword sold their production equipment to Lord so I suspect it is not outside the bounds of possibility that Gillette did the same. If only Shulton had sold their soap and A//S recipe and manufacturing equipment!

@TobyC i didn’t realise the Brits done a TV Special ?
I thought it was a cavalcade thing for American Television
I've never run across any Brit ads for a "TV Special" so pretty sure it was a Yankee thing. The USA TV Special was made two years. 1954 with the blue case (a Gen 1 Super Speed) and in 1958 with a red case (a Gen 2 Super Speed) w/flair tip TTO. Also, in 1954 Gillette discontinued the Gen 1 Super Speed and replaced with a (Gen 2 see pic #3) a 1954 Flair Tip. So, in 1954 Gilette has 2 styles of Super Speeds. IMG_3669.JPG
