Best brush for soaps?

I'm a soap man. I have no intention of trying creams in the near future. I use an Edwin Jagger Super Badger brush at the moment. I'd like to know if I can improve on this brush, partly because it sheds 3 or 4 hairs a day. From doing some research it seems that the softer brushes are more suited to creams and the coarser ones for soaps. I am open to any suggestions for what you feel is a great soap brush, in any material, even synthetic. All I require is that it has a decent quality handle, ideally a stubby sort of one if you know what I mean. Something that will last.

Shaving nerds, it's over to you...

:?: :ugeek:

Have you considered a boar brush? The Omega 49 is a big brush (55mm loft, 27mm knot) and is stiff but the tips will get very soft with use. The backbone of the brush makes it really easy to whip up a soap lather. I find it's best to give the brush a longer soak than badger before use.
Paul has them for £8.90 and in my opinion is well worth a punt.

How on earth do I choose out of this lot then?

And nobody say "buy one of each and start a rotation" please.

As your'e EJ is a soft Super it could be shedding as you have to press quite hard to pick up soap. A boar or boar mix is definitely worth a try.

Vulfix 404 mix?

That could be right, but I also think it may be because it doesn't get to dry out properly. I store it in my bathroom cabinet. Your theory makes sense though, so yes I shall soon be investing in a bristle brush from Connaught. Did Paul say that Shaving Room members get a 50% discount?

I am almost ashamed to say this

The best brush I have for soaps is the B&B LE brush. The tips are slighty scrubbby, great for picking up the soap, partuculary hard ones. The knot, loft and handle shape are perfect for me. It is a shavemac brush so might be worth looking at them.

In my defense I bought the brush from npinn on CONUK.

I have the Omega '49; it's a good soap brush. Needs a few soaks and lathers to break it in; I get a good lather too from my Kent BK4 - I think it's a great all rounder.

I have a Rooney 3/1 in Super which, if you like face lathering and a good old massage, will do you well.

It takes a while to adjust, the brush is very dense and you need to change your lathering technique slightly.

I'm still getting used to mine. I considered selling it at one point, as it can be a lather hog, but I'm glad I've stuck with it, as it feels simply great on the face.

Loft is about 50mm which is good for picking up those hard soaps.

I use a Simpsons Chubby in super, it is a great brush & works well on soap. Itcan be a lather hog. It is a great brush though.

I am considerring getting a boar by Semogue from vintagescents.com. They are getting some good write ups on TSD & the price is right.

Reckon I'll try this:

I like the look of the handle's shape and it's not expensive. I'll have to wait a little while as I'm due the P160 and a PIF this week so SWMBO's shavedar will be on red alert. Too many acquisitions in one go will alarm her.

Ask Paul to send it to the neighbour's to be called for

I'm lucky - my SWMBO has past caring about the packages that come for me - luckily working from home I get quite a few work-related and anyway I'm on pint-drinking terms with the Royal Mail delivery office manager and the two posties that deliver to our house, so I can nip down there and request the mail is held at the delivery office if necessary :D

@ HM - Ask Paul to send it to the neighbour's to be called for

Ha Ha, but with my luck they'll be out and the postie will deliver it here anyway. Now that would be suspicious!!
