SOTD : Saturday 9 July - Friday 15 July 2022.

Tue 12 SOTD
Soap Ariana & Evans Peach & Cognac
Brush SOC Cherry Wood Boar
Razor Henkotsu Kamisori
Aftershave A&E Peach & Cognac Splash
Lovely scented soap and matching aftershave. The lather is just impeccable from the excellent brush!
Missed using this Kamisori because the edge was somehow dulled by my misadventure trying to touch up with the LaLune but after my 3rd attempt...it became better and after putting it through the full pasted balsa progression...wow!! Popping hairs easily. 3passes for a ccs-sas finish. Not bad for a workday rush shave...

A wonderful shave with the Brass-bird paired with the Med Prep this overcast, muggy morning (heatwave - really?).
For me, the Brass-bird is a really smooth shaver.
Anyway, 2 passes and a touch up of the whirlpools have produced an easy, fabled, BBS, comfortable finish.
Right then, i am off to get Pegasus out of his stable to fly down to complete my mile swim in the pool of molten Gold ;).
Stay safe and enjoy your day all.

Prep: Shower, Palmolive Olive Oil Soap
Soap: Meißner Tremonia Indian Flavour
Brush: 24mm Yaqi Sagrada Familia Tuxedo
Razor: Merkur 34C HD
Blade: Dorco Titan (1)
Post: Barber Classic Lemon Cologne, Baxter's Balm

First use since last Summer of the Meißner and it was obvious something was up. The smell was a little "dank" and it proved impossible to get any sort of stable lather - just bubbles. The soap has effectively separated and looks like tinned corned beef! Don't think it's going to appear in an SOTD again :(
Anyway, Arko to the rescue, and the previous issue with the Titans was firmly put to bed with this new tuck. And the Barber cologne - as staated previously is the next sweetness level from Duru. What could have been a crap shave recovered by three of the cheapest items in my arsenal.:)

Brush: C&H 'Braizier' Gealousy SHD
Soap: SV Cubebe
Razor: Blackland Dart
Blade: Nacet (3)
Post: SV Cubebe AS

Very careful (not quite careful enough) shave this morning rewarded with a close finish, one slight catch under the chin that I didn't notice until afterwards. The ever present cubebe that I should really buy the EDP for, just keeps slipping my mind until I actually use the soap.

All in all a very good shave, hope everyone has a cracking day!

Cheers

Marc

Tue 12th July

Omega 11126 boar
MWF
TNNSER-3D
Gem S/S ( ? )
Pitralon Classic A/S Lotion

Not too sure about this blades age , as the Shave not too comfortable with 2 days growth to deal with. At least no mishaps occurred and the finish passable for a visit to the Shops.
The star today was the MWF, such a super lather being whipped up by the little boar in a trice.Never understand why so many folk appear to have problems using MWF, and have to resort to far more expensive offerings.

I know, blue and green together. Nevertheless, a very pleasant two pass, cold water shave this morning. The Chubby 2 produced a first class lather with the Danum, and the Fatboy on 5 then 7 produced a comfortable and close shave.

Tuesday
I'm not mad, just to be 100% sure, the flat bottom Tech gets used so that I definitely can compare to the bakelite version. No contest really, additional heft and a slippery metal meant this bad boy left me DFS in 2 passes so no need for anything more - twofer Tuesday.

The scent on the Cella bio not strong, but certainly pleasant for a short while.

I think I'll just keep rotating my boar brushes, as when I've used a badger, I'm not impressed (I only really like my Stirling badger brush).

As I'm off to Italy next week for work, I may see if the local supermarkets still stock these brushes, if they do, all male family members that shave should have one! Plus I will get at least one more to keep ready boxed!

I was well impressed by the Rocca earlier in the year when I first acquired a black / steel V3 from ebay. So much so I shaved with it continuously for over two months. I was offline for a bit due to personal circumstances back then so not much featured on SOTD.

I then picked up a Birch V4 from BST ( thanks again @ jphelan81) which I absolutely love. I believe V4 is the latest version.
I don’t know all the differences between Rocca variants from V1 to V4 but between the two I own there are obvious and subtle differences in the top caps and baseplates and in terms of aggression levels the two feel significantly different. The references V3 & V4 were provided to me by the individual sellers and I assume they’re correct.
The V3 is the closest shaving DE razor I’ve used to date and the first to give me an effortless BBS. It has a fair bit of blade feel and although it’s not overly threatening it does feel like it deserves some respect.
The V4 has less of a bite and instantly feels more comfortable. It’s still very, very efficient but to me the aggression has been dialled down compared to it’s predecessor (s). That's not a negative for me and it's still a fantastic shaver.
I intended to sell the V3 when I got the birch but the difference in aggression between them is the sole reason I’ve kept both in my rotation.
All in all both are firm favourites.
I hope you continue to enjoy yours.
Great write up mate Thank You.
I have no idea what i have as i didn’t realise there was a difference
i’ll get right on to the supplier & ask the question
Thanks for the heads up

What more could you expect? Last night's shave themed, 'Loneliness and the long distance shaver'

20220711_183416.jpg

Leg it - Stainless Colonial general
Run like f@*k - Feather Super Professional
I'm out, I'm scarpering - Cadman 24mm Tuxedo
I'm wet and lonely - MDC Rose
How far? On my own? - Guerlain Homme

'Having a Colonial General always was going to be a tricky act to keep it away from the baying shavers'

What a great idea to bring the Cadman back to Liverpool. Fast becoming my new 'reach for of the moment' and what a better soap to dip it in than MDC Rose. So I dipped and I dipped and I dipped, and before you know it that MDC magic appears. Just like the shopkeeper in Mr Ben

With the General leading the charge what could ever go wrong? Nothing, outside of a heavenly smooth and satisfying shave. Welcome back Mr.Tuxedo

And welcome back to some more Puffyshoes and a very appropriate little tune, despite it pissing it down here in the Pool today. Abject misery.

Cheers mate, these are just my own observations having spent time with two of the variants and I thought it was worth mentioning.
FYI, I think the first version is reputedly the most aggressive one.

........................... so are we both chasing a V1 now ? ? :ROFLMAO:
