SOTD : Saturday 22nd May to Friday 28th May 2021.

Wonderful choice of tune. I have been in to them since the days when folk used to say 'Who?'
@Blackmass , Same here. I was given Come on Pilgrim and Surfer Rosa by the owner of the newsagents I worked in back in '88 with the offer to "tell me what you think." I was in awe. This is still my take on anything new i pick up on - share the love! Unfortunately I put them on such a pedestal, when I saw the reformed band at V in (I think) 2004 I was gutted. Plainly all about the money and no chemistry on stage or with the crowd. But hey, the first three releases are seminal.

Razor = Feather AS-D2
Blade = London Bridge ( 1 )
Brush = Yaqi 26mm Synthetic
Soap = The Rambler By Zingari Man

A Truly Brilliant shave for me today.
The wife sent me this lot and it arrived today. The brush was £5.17 from Aliexpress so i have a few different,
Apparently they are defects but i can’t see any
not a blemish and this lathered like a dream.
I couldn’t help myself with this soap the name alone reminded me of myself and the story to it is class.
i’ll i haven’t seen anyone on here with this soap so i’ll leave the notes of the website and story to go along with it

  • Top Notes: Strawberry, Raspberry, Peppercorn, Currant, Anise
  • Heart Notes: Tobacco, Hay, Plum, Rose, Amyris, Vanilla
  • Base Notes: Coumarin, Vanilla, Tonka, Red Fruits
Under the foot of a man strolling through the countryside, earth rolls into hills like waves in every direction. The grass and trees are coloured by a fiery sunset, with patches left cool by the gentle cover of cream-coloured clouds. The breeze, still warm from the afternoon sun, carries the last of the day’s brightness, ushering in the evening’s depth. The man, with an unlit cigar between his lips, continues walking. He breathes satisfaction, contentedness. In this scent, you’ll find notes of tobacco, smokey vanilla and red fruits, which combine to create a sense of soothing completeness like that felt by the man who finds peace in evening walks through the countryside: The Rambler.

Pre: hot shower, proraso white preshave cream
Brush: yaqi 24mm purple haze
Soap: razorock XXX
Blade: ladas super stainless #2
Razor: ikon b1 slant
Post: cold water rinse, razorock XXX AS

another quick two pass shave resulting in DFS.
accidentally threw the ladas blade away since I thought it was third shave ... only when writing this I realised it was only second ... oh well will give them another go! So was was happy with the result they gave. Definitely not the sharpest but good honest blade in my opinion

face lathering again, and it resulted in beautiful slick later - with a really nice scent at that (although wish the scent of this soap would be a bit stronger). Finished off with matching aftershave that resulted in no stinging whatsoever.

All in all - a happy shaver!

Luckily I saw them quite a few times the first time around. They were something else live.

….oh BTW. I don't like to mention it but did you know I kissed Kim Deal? :)

I remember you mentioning that in the past ...... and I remain jealous to this day.

As far as I am concerned the Pixies died when Kim Deal left. There was a positive though as I really got in to Kim Shattuck one of Deal's short lived replacements and her band the Muffs. The best screamer ever to grace music. RIP Kim Shattuck, far too early

The Breeders were something else live. Along with Babes in Toyland they were one of the defining bands of that time for me. I spent my 19th birthday at a Rock City all-nighter headlined by Babes in Toyland and managed to knock myself out headbanging at the front rail :rolleyes: Then we realised there were no trains home! Nottingham at 3am Sunday morning waiting to get back to Coventry introduces you to all sorts of fun people! Not the birthday I had in mind but an awesome gig! I then managed to do pretty much the same in Berlin in '92 :oops:
Not jealous about Ki Deal at all. Honest :mad:

Another band I bumped into by accident. Went to see Honeycrack (CJ from The Wildheart's project way back when) supporting The Muffs. Went for the support, blown away by the headliners. Very sad end.

I understand Sig, I have OCD and I expect everything I buy new to be in pristine condition and I can then try and keep it that way.... even tools! :)
Just the way I'm wired!

Paul.
That's my point exactly... I only see the scratches when I look at the razor. It's stunning!! But I only see the scratches... :rolleyes:
