pre: proraso green preshave cream, lather up, hot towel to the face
Brush: yaqi 24mm 2band badger
Soap: B&M terror
Razor: Rockwell 6s R4
Blade: voskhod #2
Post: cold water splash, Stirling glacial lemon chill, B&M terror balm

DFS++ achieved .
what a great shave! First time got round to using b&m soap - lathers up greatly into ‘milky’ lather that’s nicely cushioned and protective. During first pass I didn’t feel much of terrorising effects of it - however it all started on second pass - beautiful menthol chill to the skin.
Blade felt really smooth and provided efficient and close shave. In terms of smoothness I’d have to compare it to Gillette 7o’clock black, however it’s definitely not as sharp.

finished off with generous splash of Stirling glacial lemon chill followed up by terror balm. My face is definitely feeling the terrorising chill even 40ish minutes after the shave. Looking forward to how long it carries on!

Now the question time - am I qualified to be a menthol head now? Still got cryogen to try in my stash .....

A very pleasant comfortable shave with the Parker Variant, a razor that I like a lot, but after my two usual passes first on 2 second on 4 it just didn’t feel as close as most of my other razors. Tomorrow I will use the same med prep blade in my R41.

Brush - Yaqi Sagrada Familia
Soap - B&M Frankly My Pear
Blade - Gillette Super Blue
Razors - Star Model 100, Rockwell 6c R4 and Merkur 37c
Post - Lea 3in1 ASB and L'Oréal Hydra Sensitive Birch Sap

3 excellent and very close shaves with this blade. It's sharp alright, but in these razors it was also buttery smooth - not a hint of feedback from the alum.
Paid more attention to building a better lather and the shaves were much better for it. The B&M soap provides a super slick lather, the scent is not my favourite, but it's growing on me. I prefer this base to the Reserve.
The Yaqi makes a breeze of building the lather and both Post shaves were excellent and punch way above their price point.
Stay safe people and enjoy your shaves.

This afternoon -

razor - ATT Calypso alu - M plate
blade - Kai (1)
brush - Yaqi HMW silvertip - the cloud on a stick
soap - Mickey Lee Soapworks - Grand Havana - tallow
post - witch hazel
a/s - Extro - Tabacco - don't complain to me, that's how they spell it
balm - none needed
scent - Creed - Tabarome parfum

Superb - a while since I had a nose to tail tobacco shave - one of my favourite scent classes. The very sharp blade and forgiving razor thing is really working well for me. The Grand Havana was kindly gifted to me by @Paul L - in my opinion this is a very fine soap - unfortunately the company doesn't appear to exist anymore. I think it was a husband and wife team? Not sure. A wee spray of Creed to finish - lovely - job done. Certain things in life - such as scent, shouldn't be done cheaply - much like cocaine and ladyboys. :) (For the avoidance of doubt - that's a joke - mostly.) The best thing about today? I get to see my best mate face to face later - for the first time in six months - I suspect there will be less malt whisky in the world tomorrow. Have shaves as good as that one - one and all - yours - I.

La Toja stick
Micromatic-Brass
Gem S/S [ 3 ]
La Toja A/S Lotion.

An essential for a good Shave is a good Razor /Blade combo and a decent lather. The low cost La Toja face lathers very nicely with enough held on the brush for the entire Shave. Another Top Notch finish without a hitch.

Vintage / Williams Wednesday

Pre: Cold water Face wash with Pears Transparent Original
Brush: Vintage Vulfix service #3 1950's
Soap: Williams Mug Shaving Soap
Razor: Valet VC1 Gold Tone (1922-28)
Blade: Despined GEM Stainless PTFE (3)
Post shave: Cold water splash ,TC's Infused Witch Hazel
Balm: Barts Balm Amber and Moroccan Jasmine Balm & Lotion
Aftershave: Williams Aqua Velva Musk

WK14 (5).JPG

A nice gentle on the skin shave today, my face is still a bit raw from the wind burn of the last couple of Days.
As i have finished all of my Wickhams pre shave soaps, i Started with a cold water face wash with the Pears transparent original, just as good if not better than the Wickhams - YMMV
So glad i planned the Williams soap for today, a very gentle Lather.
The VC1 is such a smooth shaver, really mild but efficient, better than the Oneblade core i had with much more soul and looks to die for.
Only 2 passes required after yesterdays really close shave leaving me smooth and comfy.
A nice Post shave with the Barts Balm really soothing the skin, a little indication from the splash but not too much, again its the wind burn not the shave. I think i prefer the AV Musk to the AV Original.
Stay safe and enjoy your evening All

XPEC Unscented shaving cream (v.1)
Haircut & Shave P076-SB Copper/Tibam Aristocrat Brass
Wilkinson Sword 'New' (8)
Mennen Skin Bracer

Putting aside the question of scent, nothing makes better lather than the old version of XPEC. At 100mm, the Tibam is a bit longer than I prefer, but it balances the H&S head well.

SOTD 7 Apr

Warm water
Gillette Slim Adjustable N2 4,4,3
Astra Green #2
P & B Spitfire Soap & Balm
Yaqi 24mm Black Marble

What a fantastic shave today. Dialled up the GSA to 4 and it effortlessly cut through a 3 day growth with the Astra blade. My shaving technique must be improving. The smell of the soap just gets better and better as does the performance. I was going retire this soap to the autumn but the recent cold weather has delayed that.
Stay safe guys.
