SOTD : Saturday 13th March to Friday 19th March 2021

Sunday 14th March

• Hampshire Wool Fat
• Simpson Trafalgar T3
• Razorock Hawk V2
• Kai Pink (7)
• Superdrug Forest Fresh Aftershave

I was expecting the V2 to shave differently to the V3, but they're like chalk and cheese . . .
The V2 imo, lacks smoothness, and felt harsh.
Audible feedback was off the scale - the loudest I've known a razor to be.

It shaves very close on the first pass, I was tempted to leave it at that but went ahead with a second, which resulted in a BBS finish.
Next time I'll see if a guarded blade will smooth it out a bit.
Give it a few shaves Paul. It's one of those razors you'll click with or detest.

French Pink Clay & Charcoal Face Soap
Derby Shaving Stick
Semogue SOC Taj (Boar)
Muhle Rocca R96
SuperMax Stainless (2)
Pinaud Clubman Classic Vanilla Aftershave Cologne

Another good shave with this very ordinary SuperMax Stainless ...

I got the lather absolutely bob-on with a really tight bead to the foam and good glossiness. I enjoyed my single pass so much, I completely relaxed into another and finished up super-smooth.

Champion!

Pre - the hottest shower I could muster.
Soap - P&B Trafalgar
Razor - Kanzi tech Clone
Blade - Polsilver {1}
Brush - Progress Vulfix 404
Post - P&B Trafalgar balm

Bloom'in love the P&B Trafalgar soap. The balm came in as a new purchase this week, and it finished the shave off nicely. Highly recommended.

@Paul L

It was the V1 which got me in to SE's but as soon as I'd tried a stainless single (the General) I passed it on.

What it did do though was give me some hope and faith in SE razors when I found it works better with a heavier handle. Something worth trying.

The standard V1 handle being atrocious and the worse razor handle I have come across.

In the world of SE's I haven't found many aluminium heads which work for me. The Alu General getting close to be pleasing. Again though on the end of a brass handle to give that weight.

Thanks for this Chris

Using a heavier handle to improve the V2 makes perfect sense. In use it felt as if I ought to be applying a bit more pressure - which I didn't fancy risking
I'll give it a try on a Bulldog handle next time out.

This was supposed to be a cream but turned into a croap. The scent used to be very nice but now is much subdued. The lather quality is very good though. Nice sheen, creamy and good slickness.
Shave with razor paired with the well-used blade was ok but can be retired. Managed 3passes without any issues for a dfs result. Good enough!
