SOTD 05 January 2021

Pre-shave:
Hot shower, Kiehl's Facial Wash, followed by cold water splash.
Soap: Martin de Candre Fougere.
Brush: Shavemac 'The Flat Top' Silvertip.
Razor: Rex Ambassador (1.5).
Blade: Treet Platinum (Day 3).
Post: Cold water splash, Musgo Real Aftershave, followed by Musgo Real Aftershave Balm.
EDP: Bleu De Chanel.

A relaxed shave this morning, with esentially the same set-up as Monday - 3 passes WTG, XTG and ATG - its been a while since I have done a ATG pass; I had an appointment at the eye clinic today, and wanted a good shave under my belt. BBS with no issues to report, I felt good to go :)

I have had a stye (no big deal) but it had not quite shifted; however, there was an infection and a build up of fluid under the eye.

The good Dr announced that the fluid needed drained - no problem I thought, until he described the procedure (needed to turn my eye lid (upper and lower) inside out to conduct checks, an injection to freeze my face, then an incision to drain).

It all went well, other than the sight of a needle going into my face, very close to my eye ball - fluid and gunk drained, eye patch applied, when I got off of the trolley, the first thing I noticed when I walked by a mirror was a slight shaving burn on the neck., which I was hacked off with, as I thought the shave went well! By the time I got home and had a look, the redness had gone.

A big shout out to all of the staff who looked after me today - not least the nurse who was dissapointed that the draining of the fluid/infection did not turn out to be a mini-episode of Dr Pimple popper.

I still can't get over that the first thing I noticed after the procedure, was not the XL eye patch, but some razor burn on the left side of my neck.

All the best,

Chris

today -

prep - facial scrub
razor - ATT Calypso - R plate
blade - Med Prep (4?)
brush - Semogue 2015 HD badger
soap - RazoRock Puros - tallow
post - witch hazel
a/s - RazoRock - Santa Maria del Fiore
balm - Nivea - Sensitive
scent - none - fuck - meant to use Creed Tabarome.

Nice - fine - do you ever get days when you stand in front of the den and think - where to go? What shall I use? Inspiration taken from @Paul L and @Jester - and their chat earlier. Puros - is in my opinion a very fine soap - tobacco is one of my favourite scent classes - be that leaf - the soap - or flower - the aftershave. I can't believe how good the Calypso is with the R plate - a step up in performance - compared with the M - but nada difference in terms of comfort. Impressive. Thank you again @Ferry-shave - yours all - I.

Greetings,

(Open Comb DE Razor Week)

First Face & head shave of 2021.

After the long run with the Yaqi Katana razor i've decided to give my open comb razors a run out to start the new year off in style... Starting off with the assertive semi-open comb Muhle R41 paired together with the Tiger Platinum blade which was another great match mowing through my stubble with effortless ease....I have mentioned before in my past postings what a wonderful efficient razor the R41 is now that i have vastly improved my technique & gained my shaving confidence when shaving with this wonderful assertive Fräulein.

A very enjoyable 3 pass + pick ups close comfortable /near BBS shave with no errors to report.

My intended plan for 2021 , is to carry on adding soft & hardware items to my SOTD set ups that i haven't gave much attention to in the past and to try and curb my urges and make 'NO MORE' impulsive shaving related buying bouts this year. 'I always say the same thing,' but i'm going to do my best...with a few exceptions such as my birthday or if i really need it, which at this present moment in time i don't, so that'll be it for a good few months at least.

I've said this umteenth times "i've got what i need, not what i want"....I'm going try to keep to my word and start to appreciate more, and use up what i already have in my humble shaving den. Enough of my babble...

Having a vast variety of something isn't always a good thing, you can't appreciate it enough.

A wonderful shave to start the year off in style...Wishing you all good health peace, happiness and contentedness for 2021....Finishing the shave off with small dollop of Aloe Vera Gel.

My face & precious swede are feeling smooth & smelling devine.;)

Stay safe, and enjoy the first weekend of 2021 ladies & gentlemen.
I like that stand, looks universal as well. Mind me asking what it is?
