10/8 - I've never seen a blade that wide. Amazing looking Livi but how does it shave, especially those awkward spots?

THURSDAY EVENING

Pre: Hot rinse & Prep cream
Soap: Mike's eucalyptus & lemongrass - scuttle lathered
Brush: Semogue OC Cherry boar
Razor: Ikon Slant
Blade: Gillette Superthin
Post: Witch hazel, GFT Sandalwood skin food

Really enjoying using the Ikon ATM. It's a real sledgehammer, and wonderful to both look at and use.

I had a cracking shave last night with a really vocal Ern straight.

Today, I'm sensing it was not as close as perhaps I thought last night, but not to worry - I thoroughly enjoyed the shave and so, tonight, I'm going to use a tried and tested shave to even up and give a great preparation for my Friday night shave which will be that lovely Le Grelot again with the Heljestrand Hollow Ground blade.

But, tonight ...

Hot Towel
Stirling Bergamot & Lavender Soap
Kent Infinity Silvertex
Durham Duplex Straight Handle
Personna Carbon Steel [1]
Hot Rinse, Cold Rinse & Alum Wash
Old Spice Splash

Face Lathered
One Pass - WTG

I am really getting good at face lathering with this synthetic now. Initially, I had splatter all over the place, the brush holding and releasing water so easily. Now, I have found the right balance between water held, pressure applied and just how to direct the water to the soap on my face.

The shave was good ...

Nice soap, gifted to me as part of a swap/buy.

The DD did its thing. I got a good shave, not too close, setting me up perfectly for tomorrow and a proper classy shave tomorrow night.

Thursday 1st May

EJ DE3D, Shim, Personna Lab Blue
Hand-carved Ash 27mm Boar
NSS Olive Oil Recipe French Lavender Hard Soap
Barbershop Bay Rum
Unrefined Shea Butter
Paul Smith London EdT
Bounder's Moustache Wax

Great shave but the real revelation was the quality of the soap. One word: fabulous! Very well done indeed, Sharon. Hat's off!

Losing my love for this EdT and now prefer both the Mr Taylor's Cologne and the James Bronnley Original EdT as well as the Vintage Shulton Old Spice.

I urge all of ye who require a bit 'greasy slap' after your shave to try some unrefined shea butter as it's magnificent stuff.

This week.

Gillette Fat-Handled Tech or Fatip Grande
Gillette 7 O'clock Sharp Edge (Yellow)
Semogue 2000 Brush
Mama Bear's (*wince*) Unscented Soap

Decided to have a brush change and dug out the 2000. It's a huge brush compared with the Semogue 820 I've been using, but is a great brush.

The Mama Bear's soap is almost gone. Great soap, but I still cringe at the name.

In other news, a minor dose of man-flu has made my top lip quite sore owing to all the nose blowing/wiping, so I appear to be growing a 'tache as I don't want to shave that area.

What a lovely looking brush. A great SOTD picture as well.

Thank you.

The brush is a PAV Brush Works custom (www.pavbrushworks.com and Facebook). His FB page has lots of photos of his work. Terribly nice chap who does some top notch work.
