Six Nations - written in the stars?

...the England front row can count themselves very lucky they were getting really screw in the scrum Marler was popping up the ref should have shown the two prop yellow cards.

Sorry Jamie - one of the ITV commentators was a scrum specialist and he seemed to think it was 50:50. I think any good international side nowadays will push the Laws to the limit in the scrum as the traditional methods of gaining the upper hand have been removed since the current procedure was introduced (the "hit" has been elimated, which was overdue, IMO). If youwant to find fault, you might consider that every team puts the ball into the scrum at an angle such that the hooker often has no need to 'hook' the ball.

Totally agree. I cannot recall the last time I saw a straight put in to a scrum.

Well, that level of refereeing was straight out of the Wizard of Oz. Joubert not only is in need of heart, brain and courage. He introduced a new character, the one in need of a backbone(jellyfish). He didn't ask the fourth official to help qualify his decisions, he asked him to make the decisions for him. I always thought it a good idea to have the ability to check you were making the right choices. But to delegate your responsibility completely is IMO shamefull, he spent more time talking to the fourth official than the teams.
After ranting, the game. As an Englishman I was pleasantly suprised by how dominant we were in the first half in particular, but our inability to capitalise with points on the board was a real worry. It reinforces the difference between the southern and northern hemisphere game. If we can't finish(royal we), were never going to be able to compete with our cousins below at a serious level. Yes I know this is the six nations, but it's supposed to strengthen our national teams, and give them a platform to work off of in terms of matching ourselves against the rest of the world.
Regardless of how it sounds, I enjoyed todays game, just can't help looking at the bigger picture.

Very generous of you, Graeme, and you must be pleased with Scotland's performance. They're playing with confidence and are supporting one another as opposed to playing as individuals.
Well I am part English after all. Not sure which part, probably my arse as a whole load of shite comes out of it. Only kidding, t'was good to see England win after such a disastrous World Cup and back to back victories for Scotland too. Much, much more to be done as far as both teams' performances are concerned but there is strong encouragement on both sides. New Scotland Rugby song, "We're not Italy any more, we're not Italy any more!"

Scotland/France was a good one to watch - it would have been very close if France had kicked their two early attempts and not dropped the ball so often.

Hogg looks a classy full back to me and a tremendous kick on him too. He should be in the running for a Lions place.

Hogg would be a first choice in almost any team, his fearless commitment and talent would put him in any coaches starting line, I hope that his talent gets fully realised within the lions setup!

What a load of stuff and nonsense around the Marler/Samson Lee 'Gypsy Boy' comment. Earlier today Warren Gatland said they accepted the half-time apology and that the remark was nothing more than banter. Then other people weigh in with comments like 'this racist abuse cannot be dismissed', so WG then has to backtrack and apologise for his 'just banter' comments. Incredible.

And since when have Gypsies/Travellers been a race? How can gypsy be a term of abuse - or if it is, is it worse than calling a Frenchman 'froggie' or him calling an Englishman 'rosbif'?

Calm down Jamie. Black people are a race, Chinese are a race, Jewish is perhaps debatable but certainly that expression would qualify under existing legislation on religious grounds. So none of them are acceptable and any reasonable person recognises that.

You completely missed the point of my post - which was that both the player and Warren Gatland (after discussing it with the player) accepted that it was banter. My point is that Gatland was then forced to apologise for what he said. PC gone mad in my opinion - you obviously have a different opinion so let's leave it at that.

I get what you are saying Rob but if that's banter I'm only trying to make a point and believe me I'm certainly not politically correct, if you can call a player a Gypsy Boy then you can definitely call someone a Nigger because a Nigger is definitely not a race of people in the same way a Gypsy is not a race of people.

I'm deeply offended by the constant need to use the "N" word just to make a point, so could we please return to the Rugby.

No I am not black, but most of my friends and neighbors were in my formative years, I cannot abide the word, never could never will.

"I'm a froggie, I'm a froggie, I'm a Frenchie dirty doggie!"

Hey don't shoot me, it's only a quote from a George Formby song and harmless banter. Despite the quote, he actually takes more piss out of himself and the English than the French.

Why are you offened by the word Nigger Boy and but not Gypsy Boy? I'm offended by the fact you only posted once the word Nigger was used but would have never have posted over the the remark Gypsy Boy your selective racist view could even be seen as even more racist.
