My first Damaskeene shave ...

IMG_6265.JPG

Bulldog Face Wash
Erasmic Shaving Soap
Kent Infinity Silvertex
GEM Damaskeene - GEM Blue Star [1]
Hot Rinse, Cold Rinse & Alum Wash
Pinaud Lilac Vegetal

Face Lathered
Two Pass - WTG & Pinched XTG

Actually, the head on this Damaskeene is a replacement for one which arrived from the US a week or so back and was so bad I'd rather put it as unusable. Shame. Still, the handle was okay. I stropped the blade before use, having read that these can be a little rough; that, and the constitution of the steel responds very well to stropping ... and it did. It was a very smooth shave indeed! Thanks to Norfolk Dick for the blade.

Face lathered Erasmic is a sheer joy! First pass swept everything away, the second, a pass I call a "pinched XTG" goes from the extremities of my face to the middle in all directions, so I get an XTG across my face and an ATG up my neck and over my chin. I find this two pass system with an occasional "exploding XTG" (basically, from the middle out) seems to work for my face.

The alum wash proved a close and clean shave with no issues. Finally, a splash of The Veg' ... what a delight!

Bloomin' lovely!

TUESDAY EVENING

Pre: Hot rinse & Village Barber oil
Cream: Simpsons Peppermint and Rosemary
Brush: M&F L7
Razor: Gillette #88
Blade: Gillette Superthin
Post: Witch hazel, Village Barber balm

Am using my 'beater' #88. In common with my other LC News it just works so well for me. They just deliver effortlessly easy smooth shaves.

Also this week I have been alternating between the GFT Coconut and the Simpsons cream. The Simpsons thrashes the GFT hands down. It's so good I will be buying more without a doubt.

Superdrug face scrub
Edwin Jagger Chatsworth Ebony synthetic bristle brush
Wilkinson Sword shaving soap
Perma Sharp blade
Edwin Jagger Chatsworth barley chrome razor
Bulldog ASB.

This is the first time I've used Bulldog ASB. It has a slightly antisceptic type smell, which does not last that long. Otherwise, a nice 2 pass shave.

Razor Ryujin Tamahagane Dragon God 6/8
Strop Kanayama Cordovan #8000
Brush Bill Jack Le Tuft Blue 8
Soap Boellis Panama 1924
Witch Hazel
TFS Bergamot & Neroli aftershave Balm
Scent Diptyque Tam Dao EDP.

I took the razor back to the hones for freshening up after what seemed like a very long time since I last honed the razor, it was lightly passed over the 8K then 12K and as usual the razor was ready for stropping after 50 linen 50 suede the finally 50 cordovan the razor was effortlessly topping hairs as it moved slightly above my arm. PS I had forgotten how sharp this razor could be fantastic shave so smooth a so close.
