Prep: Hot shower
Pre: Proraso pre-shave - sensitive
Soap: Wickham Garden Mint Super Smooth soap
Bowl: Woodhead Pedestal
Brush: Omega Boar 10005
Razor: Gillette Black Beauty @6
Blade: Sputnik (3)
After: Aqua Velva Classic AS, Nivea ASB

Not getting on with the Black Beauty, had a few below-par shaves with it - don't know why.
Mountains of luxurious soap from Wickham's - what an excellent soap this is.

Fair enough. Just read that thread again, glad you're enjoying it.

Looking forward to seeing more pics of it on SOTD

A weird one for me.

BBR Scimitar razor
Merker Super blade
Palmolive cream.

This is the first time I've used a Merker. It was terrible!

When I say terrible, I mean it tugged like a blunt Mach 3 but I perservered. To be fair, I had a week's worth of beard but I've shaved with other blades with that much growth and don't get the same but anyway..

Three passes later and what an incredibly smooth shave!

Sure, it was very uncomfortable but the results were very good.

That said though, I don't think I'd turn onto them for my daily driver, more like how other people view Derbys (which I rate, BTW) to use every now-and-again for a change until I either get a good one (could've been a rogue blade) or they run out.

First go with this enigmatic 7 O'Clock ...

IMG_5555.JPG

Hot Towel
Tabac Shaving Soap
Kent Infinity SilverTex
ASR 7 O'Clock - Feather Hi-Stainless Platinum [2]
Hot Rinse, Cold Rinse & Alum Wash
Tabac Aftershave Lotion

Bowl Lathered
Two Pass - WTG & XTG

What a sensational razor!

Aggressive! Think GEM MicroMatic Open Comb aggressive, combined with the gorgeous butter knife over toast sound of the 1912, but backed up by the build quality of the AutoStrop range. It's a BMW with a four pot turbo banger under the hood! A 2002 Tii for those in the know.

Superb!

T&H face scrub
T&H No. 10 cream, face lathered
Simpsons Pure Badger
Gillette Ball End Tech
Feather (1)
Cold rinse, alum & WH
Pitralon Classic

Loving the scent of the No. 10 range at the moment. First time with the cream and it's on a par with the rest of the T&H range. A Feather in the Tech brings it to life. I had nothing but average shaves from until I tried this combo recently.

Myrsol Emulsion
Omega 49
Roger & Gallett shaving soap
Gillette Old Type
Sputnik (1)
Myrsol Antesol

I can't seem to get on with the old type, I'm sure it's all in the angle and it was much more pleasant than the new standard but not the long comb new.

This sample of soap has been sitting around for a while, not sure on the scent but the lather is something else, like clotted cream really thick and almost clumpy.

This week another member on here very kindly sent me a loan package of 5, yes FIVE different SE razors to have a shot of. I'll be using them one by one for a couple of shaves, so here's the first instalment.

Gem Micromatic, loaded up with a NOS (I presume) Treet Super Single Edge.
Cella soap lathered with New Forest brush.

Two passes plus touchups on the cheeks. Didn't want to push my luck and refine the shave under the jawline, so have a tiny bit of stubble left there.

Next off a quick rub of alum - which only gets used nowadays when I am checking the smoothness of a shave using new products. No sting :icon_razz:

Finally a splash of Old Spice Original Sensitive. Nice.

First impressions - not bad at all for Old School tech and blades. I could quite happily shave like this all the time.

Fly3k - glad you liked the R & G soap. The scent is very French and was three times as strong when new. Great performer.

Long comb New, Berkshire set
Tiger stainless
Monsavon
Aquatonic a/s

No doubting the performance of the Monsavon and it's cheap but really don't like the smell so when my two partial pucks are done I'm not sure I'll bother getting any more.

Yes the scent is very er French. Cheesy perhaps lol

Black tip
Tsr brush
Laser stainless (3)
Nannies lime soft soap/Ingrams
Freshwood a/s balm

Scrapey. 3 shaves is 1 too many for this blade. Brush breaking in nicely

Friday xi April, 2014

Brush: Custom Neep Box Wood
Soap: Otoko Organics
Razor: Braveheart SS head w. Maggard MR3 Handle
Blade: Rapira Super Stainless #3
Post: Floïd "The Genuine" ASL, Kiehl's Ultimate ASB

Result: Last time for this combo. New selection tomorrow. Still undecided on the Otoko. Platinum Lux definitely trumps the Super Stainless in this run off between two contenders from the Rapira stable. Decent shave, loving the Floïd.

All the best,

Jon

Friday morning:

Henckels Friodur 5/8"
Simpsons Chubby 2, Best Badger
D.R. Harris Winsdor, soap
D.R. Harris Winsdor ASL
Face Lather
Neil Miller-2.5"Latigo Leather
WTG, XTG & ATG (neck)

Friday

RazoRock XXX
New Forest Tubby 2
Muhle R89
Gillette 7 o'clock Black
Fitjar Folgefonn ASB

A fine run of shaves with the R89, BBS results.

Prep: Hot shower
Pre: Proraso pre-shave - sensitive
Soap: Wickham Bay Rum Super Smooth
Bowl: Woodhead Pedestal
Brush: MÜHLE Kosmo silvertip synthetic
Razor: ATT R2 Kronos
Blade: Rapira SS (1)
After: Barbershop Bay Rum AS, Bodyshop Arber ASB

Great combination today. I'm back to BBS with ATT. How small a pea-size do you need with Wickhams soap? Going smaller but the lather still mountains! For anyone thinking this soap is expensive, you've got to factor in how far this stuff goes.
Really liking Bodyshop's Arber ASB - I should use it more often.

Enjoy your day, people.
