Le Grelot 68 Le Petit Coiffeur, 5/8 Quarter Hollow, Round Point

I like Le Grelot razors, including this "Le Petit Coiffeur", although not in perfect conditions - the one who owned it before I bought it did not a good job in honing, the point in particular - but it is however a lovely shaver. As for the soap, Martin De Candre is among my favorite ones and their "Fougère" fragrance is very charming. A good shave ended with my beloved Bay Rum, round and smooth, it has been the perfect companion.

  • Pre-Shave: Roberts Distilled Rose Water
  • Soap: Martin De Candre Fourgère
  • Brush: Omega Syntex 90081
  • Bowl: Gerby Bowl
  • Strop: Mastro Livi Loom Strop and Hand Palm
  • Razor: Le Grelot 68 Le Petit Coiffeur, 5/8 Quarter Hollow, Round Point
  • Post-Shave: Umbrian Extra Virgin Oil
  • After Shave: RazorGuy Bay Rum

Prep: Hot wash with dove soap.
Soap: Professor Blighty's Woodsmoke.
Brush: Grooming Company Synthetic Badger.
Razor: King Cutter 5/8.
Post: M&S Woodspice AS Balm.
Strip: Westholme 3" leather/hemp.

First time out with the Woodsmoke, different but not unpleasant. I am loving this king cutter, shaves very well indeed, UKRob did an awesome job restoring this for me, thanks very much Rob. Still getting used to the synthetic but seems to handle prof Blighty well. Very smooth 2 pass with shave with touch ups on the usual problem areas.

Prep: Hot shower
Pre: Proraso pre-shave - sensitive
Soap: Reef Point - Peerless
Bowl: Woodhead Pedestal + Plastic bowl
Brush: L'Occitane synthetic
Razor: ATT R2 Kronos
Blade: Rapira Swedish SS (1)
After: Floid Black AS, Calvin Klein Eternity ASB

Testing out an improvised scuttle using my pedestal lather bowl sat inside a plastic bowl filled with hot water. The bowl holds about 1.5 pints of water and stays hot throughout my 3 passes. The setup makes it easy to pick up the lather bowl for lathering after which it's placed in the outer bowl. I might look for a better fitting outer bowl; maybe one that's insulated too.

I haven't used my ATT for a while (due to rotation) and it reminded me just what a great shaver it is - my favourite.

Note to self: Reef point really makes a thick creamy lather with a synthetic brush.

Have a great day folks.

First time with the Omega synth and I enjoyed it a lot. I did notice it needed more water adding than usual but whipped up a nice lather very quickly. Last of the Layrite today - thanks again to Hairsuite for his extremely kind gesture in gifting me this first rate aftershave.
