Tuesday night ... and it feels like a Tabac night ...

Hot Towel
Tabac Shaving Soap
Pure Badger 23mm
Germany Tech Clone - Derby Extra [2]
Hot Rinse, Cold Rinse & Alum Wash
Tabac Aftershave Lotion
Tabac Cologne

Bowl Lathered
Two Pass - WTG & XTG

Ahhhhh ... I love Tabac!

The razor is a Tech clone, simply marked "Germany". The head is well made but the handle looks a little rustic and it is small, so off it popped and on went my templ8 version ball ended handle. The extra weight is excellent and made the razor quite intuitive with a narrow angle, but effective when you catch it.

Alas, I did not enjoy the blade. Used once on a few day's growth with a seriously aggressive razor worked out. In a Tech/clone it felt rough. Trying the blade on a fingertip, it proved to be quite blunted. So, out it goes ... two runs. Not a great blade.

Prep: Hot shower
Pre: Proraso pre-shave - sensitive
Soap: Trumper's Coconut Cream
Bowl: Woodhead Tall Large Scuttle
Brush: MÜHLE Kosmo silvertip synthetic
Razor: ATT R1 + Weber Bulldog handle
Blade: Gillette Super Thin (3)
After: Barbershop Bay Rum, Coral Skin Food

So I think I may have found the "one" razor, now to see what blades to use with it. The previous Sputnik was super smooth but this Gillette Super Thin feels rough and draggy compared to it. 3 shaves with this blade has decided that I don't want to be using it with this razor.
Having said that the actual final result was no irritation and a gnat's whisker away from a BBS so the blade did pretty well; I just didn't enjoy it much.
The problem I have with the ATT R1 is getting close under my chin, for some reason that's not a close as other areas. More practice needed, great news.

Turned out nice again.

TUESDAY EVENING

Prep: Hot rinse & Prep cream
Razor: Ever Ready Streamline
Blade - Vintage GEM
Brush: Semogue OC 2012 LE
Cream: IK soap - bowl lathered
Post - Witch hazel & GFT sandalwood skin food

A really nice shave. This IK soap is very good indeed. Might be one to keep around in the arsenal.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage butterscotch rebranded Simpsons
'Webly'/Schick Plus Platinum (NOS)
Xpec SC
Nutrogena oil free moisture
Pens BB cologne...pepper note goes good with the Xpec

Great old blade that I could easily use every day. The Xpec has become somewhat addicting. I am hoping that will pass.......sheesh.

BBS results,

Martin

Yep, I would consider it a top tier soap. Checks all the boxes.......slip, cushion, and excellent post shave skin care. Nice and mild floral scent.

Wednesday 5th November 2014
Prep: Shower
Razor: Schick Injector E (Canadian)
Blade: Personna Stainless Coated
Brush: Vulfix 404 Mixed
Soap: Arko Stick grated
Aftershave: Astral Cream (light)

A super close shave but at the expense of a weeper, it is rare that I shave with a Schick E without some minor damage; the reason I prefer 'G' models.

Regards
Dick.

Wednesday 5th March, 2014

Prep: Hot shower, Bulldog Face Wash
Cream: Fitjar Wild Thing
Brush: Rubberset 400-3
Razor: Ikon Slant
Blade: Voskhod #1
Post: Alum, Honeybee Gardens Sandalwood ASL, Dove Men+Care Sensitive ASB

Result: The Voskhod doesn't quite match up to the Med Prep in this set up, but is still a fine blade. Somewhat disappointed in the Dove ASB, I rate their other products but this does not compare favourably with the Weleda ASB that I finished earlier this week.

All the best, gents.

Jon
