S.O.T.D. Sat. 7th Sept. to Frid. 13th Sept. 2013

Wednesday evening

Prep : Clinique face soap and scruff
Razor : Ikon Deluxe OC
Blade : Gillette Yellow
Brush : Simpsons Chubby 2
Cream : C&E West Indies Lime
Post shave : C&E West Indies Lime balm

Generally a very nice shave but I must have done more damage around my adam's apple from the previous night's shave than I thought as I got more irritation there again.

Haven't used the Gillette Yellows in a while and forgot how smooth and sharp they are.

Greetings

A wonderful shave from this Schick G1, thanks to Tony Spurs for the razor. It is a super easy, delightful little razor to shave with.

Not much seemed to happen until the ATG pass - I guess I'm out of practice with TTOs. DFS.

Brush: New Forest, Tubby 2
Razor: C V Heljestrand M K 42, from Eskilstuna Sweden
Soap: Jabonmans Lavanda
AS: Myrsol Formula C
Strops: Neil Miller

Fantastic blade, fast became one of my top shavers :D

Prep: Hot shower, followed by Village Barber oil
Soap: Nanny's Silly Soap "Down Home Summer"
Brush: E&J Chatsworth Best Badger
Razor: E&J DE89 Chatsworth
Blade: "Sharp" Stainless DuraBlade (1)

Shave started OK but turned very rough by 2nd pass. Edge faded completely by 4th pass (blade discarded).
Decent shave with a crap blade.

Prep: Hot splash
Pre: BBR pre shave Oil
Brush: Semogue 1305
Soap: Palmolive stick
Razor: EJ DE89
Blade: Shark
Post: Alum, BBR AS balm

Not a bad shave at all, still trying to hone my 'workday' shave time down.

Gillette Aristocrat #21
Gillette 7oc Yellow (4)
Semogue SOC 2-band
Palmolive Classic stick
Nivea Sensitive balm
Diptyque Philosykos

I've ended up with two #21s: a pristine one without case and a lesser example with a beat-up case. I'm trying to work out which shaves better but, really, I need to be keeping the other variables constant. I'm not getting on with the Nivea Sensitive balm: it leaves my face feeling unusually greasy and does little to soothe my skin. I think it might well be PIFed to my dad to see whether it does any good for him.

THURSDAY EVENING

Razor: Gillette Aristocrat Jr
Blade: Personna Med Prep
Brush: Semogue cherry wood boar
Soap: Klar Kabinett - suribachi lathered
Balm: Witch hazel then WS balm

Tonight's lesson - do not have a beer (only one mind) then attempt a straight shave. Nicked one of my moles and decided discretion was the order of the day.

Good shave in the end, but I have to confess I do not really seem to get on with these blades. The Lap Preps suit me much better.

Something a little different for me.

Gillette Flare tip superspeed
7 o'clock yellow
NF tubby1 in super 2 band
TOBS Eton College
RSC balm

Not used the flaretip in quite some time. It seemed quite aggressive compared to the Slim I've been using recently, although the Slim was set to 3.
Nice clean and smooth shave.
