Home Made Soap - cast your vote!

Well I got around to sample #1 and lathered up as usual, the scent on this was a bit more soapy but I still can't lather it to the level the other guys seem to. Everybody seems to have made conclusions but think I need a few more shaves and more goes with both samples before I cast my final verdict. @Stuart wish I'd seen your post before I went to the postoffice today as I could have included half of my samples in your mailing.

Take your time and experiment!

Well, I can't resist but have my say. Thanks Nick for those.
I don't have an awful lot of experience which is why I didn't want to waste a sample.
I have mainly used Wickhams Super soap TOBS Soap & MWF & Floris soap. So these are my comparisons.
I have soft water.

I was going to wait until I had tried both samples a few times before I reported back.
But I just can't resist. I have only used the number 1 sample so far.
And that only once.

I normally soak my boar brush while showering. Squeeze and shake dry.
Load. Then face lather adding water as I go.
It isn't as objective as bowl lathering, but this is what i know.

It was a pleasure to use. I thought it really stood out as a good soap.
Doing exactly what I normally do, it loaded easily and lathered quickly.
I had a thick, creamy, ‘slidey' lather. Gave what I think of as a high quality lather.
It seems very forgiving if that makes sense?
Like the range it is happy with is pretty wide.
It was happy when relatively dry and thick, but also with a bit more water still very happy.

Post shave feels almost as good as anything else I have tried.
I would have to go back to the others to compare to say about that better..

Also, it seemed to create more lather than other soaps with the same effort.
I could happily have done four passes.

Well done Sir, I am impressed.

Unfortunately the scent isn't to my liking.
I think it might have one thing that I am not keen on.
It isn't like anything else I have smelled before.
But like I say, my experiences are very limited.

Thanks for doing this though, excellent.
I will have some off you of the next scent option for sure.
I was going to pass this on, but I am not sure that I want to......

Glad you like it. Any help you can give with the scent would be much appreciated!

Just tried sample 1 that was sent by @Whosthedaddy and my findings are:

My first sniff I thought it was very soapy but could smell lavender.

I found it quite easy to whip it up to a lovely lather with stiff peaks and a nice glossy texture. I have only tried 2 soaps before this so I have little experience.

It went on well for my first pass and glided very well. However on my 2nd pass I thought it got a bit thin (this may be techinque) however it still gave me a good 2 pass shave and a clean up pass.

Post shave is nice and not drying.

The scent to me still smells 'soapy' however this would not put me off

All in all with my little experience I thought it a good soap with a lot of scope.

Thank you for letting me try this out

Stuart
