S.O.T.D. Saturday 27th May to Friday 2nd June 2017

It was a limited edition of Semogue and the Portuguese wetshaving forum Barbear Clássico. I don't think there are any remaining brushes from the limited run of 100 but you could try contacting http://vintagescent.com/ as Bruno, the store owner, was managing the sale. What was rumoured was that if this run was successful Semogue could then use this kind of synthetic knots with other handles in "normal" editions. All that I will say is that I would buy another brush with this knot in a heartbeat, it really is a great brush! A lathering monster, great backbone, no flopiness, and smooth as angels feathers caressing our face. ;)

Would definitely be interested. Have dealt with Bruno frequently in the past and actually got a Caravella (along with many other brushes )from him.

Vulfix 404 mixed
Vitos Red croap
ES S/S Claymore V1
Schick Proline Type P [ 14 ]
Alum Rub/Rinse off
Tuff Green A/S lotion

Another use of the Claymore really just to see how the blade is going. I know that a few folk get multiple
shaves from one blade, but with a tough beard that has not been my experience. However, the Schick seems to be exceptional and yet again I had a smooth and comfortable Shave with a good close finish.

The Claymore when fitted with the Schick really delivers for me, and I have no trouble using this hefty razor
to get a really good shave every time I use it. I really need to try it with a Feather Pro to see how that goes,
though so far it seems to be good for about 8 uses.

Greetings,

Every shave of which i've had since i started DE shaving with palmolive shave sticks has never failed to provide a rich slick protective lather, and a wonderful post shave feeling to the face. Today was no exception..

My R89/Shark S.S. was another excellent duo,a wonderful mid-aggressive smooth performance, resulting in a 3 pass + pick ups silky shave with no errors to report yet again...

In the passed i've had a few weepers with the Shark SS blades, but since i started to hand strop them before shaving , it's taken off any hidden burrs.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling devine.;)

Enjoy your day,ladies & gentlemen.

Morning gents,

Well my first shave with the now infamous ATT Calypso R1. Second use of my Maesto 30mm Silvertip, which is a cracking brush and my first use of the last of my very special soaps from the Fox. This time it was 1912 Imperial Tonic.

The Maesto whipped up a cracking lather with the Imperial Tonic. Scent wise, to my nose, this is a sweet, almost marzipan scent. I'm not a massive fan of marzipan, but this is quite nice. Of the four it's probably my least favourite scent, but I think I'll still enjoy using it when it comes around in rotation. I have a lot of 1912 soap, something different for whatever mood I'm in, it's nice to have the choice!

The shave itself, I loaded up a fresh Astra SP and I only had one days growth. I already had a bit of irritation by my Adams Apple and I also don't usually shave consecutive days, but I had some time yesterday and I thought why not.

Believe it or not, I was genuinely hoping for a good shave with the Calypso, alas, it felt so lopsided on one side of the baseplate, it wasn't to be... I joke!! The small dent on the corner of the baseplate is purely aesthetic and doesn't affect the shave at all. Unfortunately the shave didn't do it for me. The razor is well balanced and very light! But it just doesn't feel like it's got much about it and I only completed a single pass, not wanting to upset my Adams Apple area and also because I wasn't particularly enjoying it. The result was reasonable for one pass. I'll give this razor another go at some point, but will be focusing on the Brass General pass around for my next few shaves.

Enjoy your days gents.

Now how did I know you'd be using this razor today?! ;) It is a gorgeous razor though - hopefully you can have a better shave next time with more settled skin! I have to be honest I love the combination of blue and gunmetal. If ever you're keen to get rid, I'll happily reimburse you the £15 + P&P you spent on it ;) Bargain bucket!

It is a shame it has caused so much tension within the FaceBook community, but hey ho, ç'est la vie and all that jazz. I'm sure everyone will learn to look past the slight blight which occurred!

Haha, indeed... Had to get one use out of it! I'm sending it to a friend who wants to try it out along with a couple of other ATT plates so it'll be out of my possession for a little while. It is a lovely looking thing and beautifully made. Fortunately the little dent is exactly that, little! You don't really notice it unless you go hunting. Tbh I don't think I'll sell it, I might trade it at some point if the shaves don't improve, but doubt I'll come to sell it!

Yes exactly, life goes on, far, far more important things in life! :)
