Sod's law shave

I would love to kick sod in the nuts !

I have been saving up to buy honing stones, but yesterday I went on a small shopping spree....
A Parker Frontier GT Fountain pen SS with gold plated 23k nib and 14k trim
A Parker luxury converter
A bottle of ink.

And whilst at it, a fitjar Bregneskog Norwegian shaving cream found its way into a shopping basket as well, thuss no spare cash.

I wanted to shave with my le dandy but it's officially changed its mind about staying sharp, and needs a re hone, s**t. :icon_cry2:

This mornings shave.....
Started with the le dandy, stopped with the le dandy.
Moved on to the Rolls Razor(see why you need a razor collection now!)
Taylor's sandlewood shaving cream
Geo.F.Trumper Skin Food to finish

Verry BSS WTG Thank goodness

EJ 2012 octagonal handle
Vulfix 404 badger brush.
EJ sandalwood cream and balm

My first ever proper shave...
Lathering was a bit trial and error but got there in the end.
Only shaved WTG but bending my wrist and long strokes are hard habits to break.
2 passes only which left a few furry patches and 2 small nicks under my jawline but I thought I'd stop there rather than push my luck.
Far, far better than my electric razor, very little razor burn.
Overall I enjoyed myself which is a first for shaving.

Crown & Eagle hollow gound - Mikael's walkabout straight, then EJDE89L with Wilkinson Sword (3)
Carl's (Betchet45) makeshift strop, 50 or so laps
Vulfix 404 bristle & badger
Palmolive stick
RSC balm
Miller Harris Feuilles de Tabac

2nd go with a straight. First time out it was a very tuggy shave, a little less so this time due to the stropping I think but still tugging plenty resulting in 3 small nicks / scrapes. So after the first pass reverted to the DE89 to complete matters, and a good job it did too.

Think I need to return this girl to you Mikael, she seems in need of some attention to give her a sharper edge. Thanks for the taster though, I'll definitely be adding a straight or 2 to the collection in due course, perhaps starting with a Feather.

Had a shave at the Barber this morning.

Funny how a shave at the barber always reminds me of why I usually don't bother with a shave when I go there. Not as close, a little rougher than what I'm used to and stinging when I washed my face this afternoon resulting in having to put my own balm on.

Back to my own shaves soon enough.

Earlier this afternoon:

Music: Johnny Cash - various from the American Recordings albums.
Prep: Hot shower, Groomed facial scrub.
Weber DLC, loaded with Polsilver (2)
Nanny's Lime soft soap, lathered with New Forest 2207 brush.
Three passes and minor touchups.

Finished off with Sunbury Barbershop Bay Rum and RSC balm.

Cracking shave. effortless and enjoyable. If only all razors were this good, I wonder if cartridges would have taken off at all :icon_razz:

That razor looks the business

It feels even better in the hand than it looks. I think it will outlive me, easily. Shame I have no sons to pass it on to :icon_cry2:

Perhaps one of my 3 daughters will fancy DE leg shaving when older :icon_razz:

Proraso pre and post as pre
Palmolive cream
Merkur Progress on 2 and 1.5 with Polsilver Super Iridium (2nd) shave
Boots Freshwood a/s balm

Close but a little sore again.

Billy Bragg on Spotify.

Shaving round my ridiculous face-furniture took me about 15 minutes today. It's at times like these I feel myself reaching for the scissors.

Gillette Fusion ProGlide
EJ BBB
MWF
Chanel Cuir de Russie EDT

SATURDAY MORNING

Joris horn handle razor
Gillette 365 (3)
Neep sandstone brush
Klar Kabinett (scuttle lathered)
Witch hazel
Castle Forbes AS balm
Lavanda aftershave

Really nice shave with one of my most aggressive razors. Fortunately the KK is really easy to lather, and is a great perfomer.
