SOTD w/c Sat 28th Jan - Fri 03rd Feb. incl.

Saturday.

Preshave: Nuage pre shave oil, hot towel.
Cream: Palmolive Cream
Brush: Wilkinson Sword Boar
Razor: EJ DE89
Blade: Shark SS (2)
Balm: Professor Blightys Balsam

I'm really getting the hang of this now!

3 passes - WTG, XTG and diaganally XTG.

Really really smooth, no nicks nor irritation today. Woot.

Prep: Hot shower
Brush: Simpson, PL 8
Razor: Henckels
Soap: Tabac
AS: TOBS Victorian Lime + Tiger face lotion
Strops: Neil Miller
Result: Very, very clean :D

Nice shave, if it hadn't been for a small nick on the throat I would prob have been uber clean :D The Palmolive AS, in the pic, is a vintage Swedish AS, aka Shaving Water here :)

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

vintage butterscotch Ever Ready badger
1970s Schick adjustable M type injector/Gilette Platinum Plus (NOS)
IK SS used as a stick (really a wonderful soap)
Wilkinson AS Lotion (old juice)
Penhaligons 'Blenheim Bouquet' cologne

Wanted to try this new to me injector and so I loaded up the big guns and popped in the Gillette blade. You know, I like shaving with sharp DE blades, and the Gillette rivals everything but the Feather in that regard. The injector performed perfectly (dialed down one number from the norm), and man...my face is smooth.

BBS results,

Martin

Gillette Aristocrat (gold, 1946/47) with Gillette Super Silver blade (second use)
TOBS Sandalwood cream

Very nice shave. Didn't like this blade in my Slim adjustable but pretty good in here.

Saturday Morning

Gillette Bostonian
Gillette Super Platinum
Semogue 1305
Mama Bears Lime
Prof Blighty Yellow Unction
Prof Blighty Coffee AS

A close shave but it left my face with about 6 cuts that needed alum-ing.

There is no doubt that this is an aggressive razor, but I'm not finding these Indian Gillettes to be up to much to be honest. They don't seem to be anywhere near as good as the Russian ones IMHO (so far I've tried a Goal and a Super Platinum).

Saturday evening:

Hot towel face prep
Mitchell's Wool Fat
Aristocrat Junior
Gillette 7 o'clock yellow (3)
Alum & Witch Hazel
Pinaud Clubman

3 passes resulted in a very good comfortable shave. Great little razor, in fact the whole lot was great tonight.

Never had the Bostonian but I think that if you go back to a blade you know well that's more forgiving, things should smooth out. These as you probably know are supposed to be good shavers. Shouldn't be an issue once you sort the blade factor.

No shave from Ian yet, so I assume he's still recovering...

Prep: Rock Face face wash
Cream: St James Of London Clearwood and Clarysage
Brush: Omega Syntex 90065.
Razor: EJ Chatsworth Barley
Blade: Gillette Superthin platinum
Post shave: Real Shaving Co. balm.

Tried a Gillette Superthin, and pretty sharp at that. I noticed that the blade wrapper had an advert, in Vietnamese, for the Gillette Contour twin blade cartridge razor, though they called it the Vector. I haven't used that one since the 1980s.
